Location, location, location! Looks good, lovely setting. We were heading to Bella Storia but parked in the wrong place and ended up late and hungry next to here. Two of the staff were OK, the other one was grumpy The food is expensive and unimpressive, the portions ungenerous, the service slow and inaccurate. We were asked what we wanted before they brought a menu. We ordered a bottle of fizzy & a bottle of still water, they brought 2 bottles of sparkling, took one back (didn't (offer to) bring the other but tried to charge us for it. We ordered raspberry rhubarb drink they brought pink grapefruit. The parmigiana €12 was the tiniest portion imaginable, the burrata was good but missed basil. We all ordered the same main course, it took ages. We were hoping it was going to be prepared in & served from the cheese but it was served in (nasty) aluminium pans. The pasta was barely warm, over cooked, too buttery barely cheesy and cold after 3 mouthfuls at €24 euros plus €6 for truffle - which was the only thing that gave it flavour. When we were asked and said it had been cold the response was 'oh' followed by ' Do you want to see the desserts? They're taking the piss The lunch menu might be worth a try for the location but I guess you wouldn't want to be hungry when...
Read moreA delightful restaurant close to the Westerpark in Amsterdam. The restaurant has a real cosy atmosphere, and the table we were at had a nice view of the grounds. The food is really delicious with the staff are really friendly and attentive. The menu is quite different from the usual Italian restaurants: there is not a pizza in sight.
I chose Polpette di lenticche al sugo (lentil balls in a herby tomato sauce) for my starter and the flavours were wonderful. My main course was Chitarra agli scampi (pasta with a cream of langoustines and pistachios), which was perfectly cooked and full of flavour. A couple of my friends chose for the taglioni alla forma (homemade pasta prepared in a parmesan cheese wheel. It's their signature dish and is prepared at your table. It's quite the spectacle.). My dessert was biancomangiare (blancmange with a cinnamon and caramel sauce). That was also very tasty. All in all, it was a truly...
Read morefood was good - portions were small Service was quite bad specially we had one waitress that was quite rude; before we looked at the menu we asked if they had pizza she said no and then when said oh we thought this was an Italian place she sarcastically replied that not all Italian places serve pizza She asked if we had a resvation although the place was empty and when we told her the place looks empty again sarcastically replied but it wont be empty later - i attached a picture of when we left, it was still empty Then she didn't want to serve us apparently so after a very long wait another waiter(much nicer) came and took our order She then started to serve the food before the cuttlery and we had food sitting on the table but nothing to eat with Then they forgot to prepare the order of one of our friends(the nice waiter offered a complentary drink)
I wouldn't go back there just because of...
