Went with my fiancee who used to have gallery in this street for a year and some friends to have some roti. We passed this place so many times in the past and heard some bad stories. Friend said... No this is best roti place in Amsterdam. So we went. Quite a line, can't be bad. And it wasnt. It was great! We shared a roti roll with chicken, kousenband and potato. Friends had a plate with roti: pancake, chicken, gravy beans the long green ones. The roll was delicious, little spicy not too much, juicy nice blend of flavours only found in traditional surinam kitchen. No wonder there was quite a line waiting. Fast service and very nice also beer and afterwards place to wash hands as roti is eaten with hands....

I have seen a cockroach twice now.🪳Ones before they rebuilt the place years ago and I thought things would be better after that but I’ve seen another one on the wall last month. And ordering here is like ordering something from a factory line. The ingredients now taste stale. The chicken is overcooked and dry. They don’t have the option to add egg to their roti rolls. Both were delicious, succulent meat, spicy lamb roti sauce, flavourful potatoes and good (with still a bite) beans. The food was enough, we even had leftover for the next day :-)
We weren't very familiar with the different dishes so we asked the cashier to order the two most popular ones.
You pay first and then you wait in a queue (I think it was around 25min) to get your food. What I found very thoughtful was the addition of a sink and hand washing station in the room, giving you the opportunity to eat with your hands without getting sick.
So definitely a place...
