SALVO — Restaurant in Amsterdam

I had the opportunity to drop by Salvo on my trip to Amsterdam and I’m really glad I did. I came for breakfast and since I’m more of a savory breakfast kind of person, I opted for the spinach and ricotta croissant which was cooked to perfection with a slight crunch and very delicious and flavorful filling. I also opted for an iced latte with oat milk, and as a regular coffee consumer, I can definitely say it’s in my best ranked coffee places.

I couldn’t resist the temptation and also tried the pistachio Bomboloni which was very delicious with a tasty and dense pistachio cream filling. It was also slightly warm which isn’t always guaranteed but definitely a nice bonus.

The tiramisu is also a must especially if you like it with a slightly stronger coffee taste.

As for the service, it was impeccable with a very friendly staff that was very helpful in recommendations 😊

The atmosphere is perfect with a very cozy and friendly vibe and some background music that is perfectly suited for the occasion.

Prices are a bit high but match the quality of ingredients accordingly, especially considering pistachio is an expensive ingredient in general.

I would highly recommend to stop by several days during the week as their menu tends to change from day to day, so you might get a few surprises 😉

Visited SALVO on my recent travels to Amsterdam (April 2024). Had seen videos online and had to check out the Pistachio bakes.

From the outside it looks very assuming. Very understated but the queue out the door lets you know how popular it is. There was a bit of a wait 5-10 mins as it was quite busy.

It's only a small bakery with limited seating space. I opted for take-out.

I bought one Pistachio Croissant and one slice of Pistachio Tiramisu. If I could have bought more, i would. Everything looks divine. 👌

The Pistachio Tiramisu was delicious 😋 Light and fluffy. I'm having withdrawal symptoms now I'm back in the UK 🇬🇧 LOL 😆

I saved the Pistachio Croissant to have for breakfast the next day. It was still soft and fresh. The centre oozed with the soft gooey Pistachio cream. I loved it. 😍

If you are ever in Amsterdam, YOU MUST stop by SALVO. The wait is worth it.

If I ever come back to Amsterdam, I'm definitely dropping by again. Price isn't cheap but you pay for a quality product so it's worth it.

Despite the queues, they have plenty for everyone so you don't have to worry about them running out of...

If you’re here for a run-in, run-out coffee, you’re in the wrong place. This isn’t the factory coffee shop that turns drinks out in two minutes or less. Salvo Bakery is the place you come for excellent service, artisan pastries, and coffee prepared with intention.

From the moment you step in, everyone is welcoming and accommodating. Their pastries and baked goods are an absolute dream, especially if you love pistachios. The coffee is made with care, offering a truly delightful experience.

A standout moment was when my daughter asked for whipped cream in her hot chocolate. They didn’t have whipped cream, but they didn’t just tell us that and move on. Instead, they checked if they had any mascarpone from their tiramisu and added that to her drink. She was in heaven, claiming it was the best hot chocolate ever!

We tried four baked goods, and each one was a winner. While waiting for our drinks, we got to sample their cookies. Whoa! Yet another reason to come back!
