Foodvia secret menu concept is definitely the attraction point. The local produce explanation is not new to many restaurants so a bit of history of the materials would make the idea go one step further e.g. this beef is from farmer Joe and the veggies are from Mary down the road. The staff was very friendly and patient at explaining the concept to us and trying not to spill the bean about the dishes till they were served. The dishes changed all the time so you may not get what we got this time. We had meat dish which turned out to be beef lasagna. The food tastes good and the portion was decent. The dessert was the highlight as the coffee cake was balanced nicely with yoghurt and raspberry sauce. The price was reasonable but not cheap if including drinks. The outside seating with the market view is very nice. Food quality: 4 stars Service: 5 stars Value for money: 3 stars

Locavore restaurant off the main market square, just a few hundred meters from the Airborne Museum. Our group of seven enjoyed the large and small surprise lunches, and two had the carrot cake. The surprise lunches featured carrot soup, fresh vegetables, a couple slices of salami, a bit of goat cheese and a salad. The mint tea was a hit as were the local non alcoholic beers. All good is sourced locally and changes according to the season. A real treat and great nutrition for us on our cycling trip around the Netherlands.

15 out of 10. The stuff is very attentive to any allergies and intolerances (gluten- and lactose free in my case), extremely friendly (the friendliest in the NL), and the amount of veggies per portion is just like you did it for yourself. I wish all the best to the owners, I love the concept and could definitely recommend this place to anyone.

I didn't like it but health and/or localism fans might.

I think all the ingredients I remember can or do grow nearby Staff were friendly and were able to name most of the ingredients.

I've ordered a 3 course menu with some Thyme Rosemary And Sage tea to which I've ordered some lemon and honey when it arrived.

First Course:

Not great. Beats with some cheese from a city nearby which wasn't described in any more detail with a balsamic-dutch syrup reduction on a bed of rucola and sprinkled with some nuts (also not further specified) and spices all around it.

Dish had a few problems first of which was actually good because if the dried topping was sprinkled on food and not flat stone plate it would be overwhelming since it contained some WHOLE fennel and (i assume koriander) seeds which weren't a nice addition and came close to ruining the dish. Second problem was that rucola was blend and on the bottom making it hard to put on the fork with the rest of the ingredients. A nitpick: the glaze wasn't placed over cheese and beats which were themselves tasty but concentrated on a few places instead.

I would have put the cheese and beats in bite sized pieces and covered it with rest of the ingredients and mainly would have GROUND those spices.

Second Course

Not great not terrible. A big portion of mashed potatoes mixed with a vegetable i don't remember served with some baked fennel, Brussel sprouts, parsnip and two small pieces of pork belly served with a sauce that included red wine.

Dish wasn't bad but lacked salt, there was a lot of mashed potatoes and little of the 2 good ingredients: sauce which i really liked and pork belly which was a bit chewy.

Maybe over 50g of pork belly in a 500g dish and a bit more sauce? Saltlessness might be explained by the salt allergy people who tend to engage in localism tend to have.

Third Course:

Pretty bad. Apple pear crumble with a ginger, cinnamon and clove sauce infused with lemon and orange peel. Everything except the crust which i assume was oats was bland, watery, slightly sour and sweet. But main problem with the dish was that after everything else melted away you were chewing on a hard sweet crust which left a dry feeling in your mouth.

Sauce should have been stronger in every way (sweet sour and spicy) and perhaps served warm to further enhance the flavor. fruit on the crumble was too watery and crust as...
