I want to say the staff was amazing and working their tails off. You could tell the entire team was giving it their all, but it couldn’t measure up to the hype and expectations. This is a high dollar place which is expected. I wish I could critique the food but I can’t, because we never got any. After the initial waiter brought our bread and water, we never spoke to anyone after that besides someone bringing us their menus. I then noticed how many people were just sitting and not eating. A few people had adult beverages, but most just had bread and water. A party that had been there 2 parties ahead of us still wasn’t eating. 30mins is the ideal wait time, now in Aruba about a month off from Summer they were packed, with only a few empty tables, but that means something has gone deeply wrong with management & hiring practices. As hard as the workers were sweating and quickly moving, they weren’t clearing tables. I think I only spotted 2 parties within my line of sight I spotted actually eating meals.
I wasn’t in the mood to do a breakdown and I don’t like kicking down on working class people. This is the failure of upper management to deal with. I just made a lame excuse to staff and apologized for needing to leave, they were extremely kind and polite as 99% of the workers in Aruba are. They didn’t even make me pay for the bread and water we consumed. I definitely would try to come back, because the atmosphere is extremely nice. They had a violinist playing and the darkness on the beach creates an extremely intimate environment. This is the type of place you would propose to someone or make a confession of love to them. There’s a lot of great things going for this establishment, especially with the casino and hotel to...
Read moreI can tell you from my past visits to the island of Aruba I would clearly say that Atardi (& Simply Fish previously) was my wife and my favorite restaurant. But our love of Atardi has come to an end. We had dinner here on 29 January 2018 for a group of 14 people. We have always dined here with a group of this size with no troubles. Our dining experience was fair at best. My Tuna App was never delivered, and when I questioned it - I was told it was taken mistakenly to a different table. They offered to bring it at no charge but everyone else was already done with their apps so I declined to receive it. My scallop dinner was uneventful. With so many excellent choices for dinner on the Island I feel Atardi must do better. At the conclusion of dinner they were unable to produce our checks. There was a computer problem that prevented their ability to produce our itemized checks, or to accept credit cards for payment. We all needed to pay in cash. No itemized checks were produced just a total charge. The biggest issue was that the whole process took over 90 minutes to resolve. No accommodations or drinks were offered during this much too long of a wait. I requested that the restaurant manager, Michael Richardson, please call me the next day so I could share our group’s experience. I was first called by someone named Juan. I asked that he please have Richard call me as requested. The next today he did contact me but was rather ‘unaffected & disinterested’ by my dissatisfaction with my dining experience. I can assure you that Atardi has lost the continued patronage of our group. This was our 6th visit and it will be our last. Very disappointed with our experience and even more disappointed with the manager...
Read moreWas decided between Atardi or Passions on the beach. But due to the strong sewage smell from the water treatment plant close to passions, I decided to choose Atardi. Booked reservation via Open Table, however emailed their concierge to request a table closest to the water as I was planning to propose. They responded quickly and confirmed the request/booking.
Once we arrived, we were greeted at the front of the restaurant where we were politely greeted. Reservations were for 6:45pm due to booking slots on Open Table, however we arrived at 6pm (which was the time I had wanted to book) and were seated shortly after. The table and view did not disappoint. My girlfriend now fiancé couldn’t believe how nice the view was and love everything about it.
We were serviced by a woman (I had forgotten her name) and Oscar. They were the best and helped me through the whole proposal. The women took photos of us for the proposal and turned out beautifully. Oscar was polite and enthusiastic. Wouldn’t have asked for any other two.
My Fiancé loved the Kim Crawford white wine, and I enjoyed the passion fruit mocktail.
The food was between decent and amazing, as Aruba has many great food selections. We had ordered the scallops and octopus appetizers. The scallop appetizer was cooked perfectly, however I would have liked more flavour. The octopus app was delicious as it was cooked perfectly but had a kick of flavour from every bite. For the main course we enjoyed the Chilean Sea Bass and braised short rib. The sea bass was soft in the inside with enough sear on the outsides. I would have liked more salt for my taste buds.
Thank you to the staff and restaurant for creating an ever...
