Hi. I was a frequent customer in 2018. I returned in 2021 to check up on this location and review the food and the service. I ordered: tuscan 6 cheese and the works, both large, authentic thin.
Papa John's is a bit on the above-average expensive side, and for that, one expects a bit more quality. That was true back in the day, though not so much with this particular delivery. The Tuscan 6 cheese was all right (3/5), though somewhat expensive for what I got. For The Works, I found myself forcing eating it (since I already go it). I think that was about too few ingredients; it felt like mostly the dough, some processed meat, and not much more (2/5). Imo, both were overpriced for that kind of quality.
This was an order & delivery. This location at Diemen and I aren't in the same part of the city; we are about 5 km apart by bicycle/walking. I've placed my order in the morning, and received an expected time for delivery. Well, it was 1h20m late, and the pizzas were dead cold. I would argue that a walking person could make the distance in 1h, so something went wrong. I don't mind the reason, but I think it's reasonable to receive a good estimate at a distance of 5 km.
All in all, in my view, this place downgraded significantly since 2018. The food is 2/5 (due to the poor value for the price), and the service was also 2/5 on this one. I will keep it at...
Read moreDunno what happened as of late with this branch of Papa John's, but the service has deteriorated greatly since the start of 2024.
My order was late, so the food was just slightly warm still- no big deal, it happens. One box of pizza had no sauce or peppers, again, no big deal, it happens. My pepperoni pizza was devoid of the extra jalepenos that I paid extra for... I'm losing out on flavor and money now. The spicy buffalo wings must've been from a baby chick cause they were the tiniest I've ever seen! What's going on, PJ? The Piri Piri poppers must've popped off in the oven cause they were overcooked and sad looking, not to mention drier than some off-market nuggets. And to top it all off, not only were the pizzas badly cut, they were ghost cut as well! I had to cut the slices myself with a knife. Why bother?
I've been a longtime if PJ's when I was living in the USA, and was genuinely glad they branched out here, but now this is just a bitter burn to nostalgia. Pizza Hut ain't in this side of the 'Dam and NY Pizza tastes nothing like real NY Pizza... so I guess I've only got Domino's now.
Well, I've saved up enough points for a free large pizza; I'm gonna take it and cut my ties afterwards. I can't justify having nostalgia if it means that I don't get the food...
Read moreNever again! Ordered 2 pizzas via Thuisbezorgd.nl. Waiting time was said to be 29 minutes. After 40 minutes, we received a call from Papa John's advising they were late. When asked "How late?" the answer was "I don't know!". After 1hr45 mins we were so hungry, we ate what we had left in the fridge and called back advising we wished to cancel. The response was quite cold but eventually, I was passed over to the manager who told me they would contact Thuisbezorgd.nl for a refund. A few days passed and no sign of any refund. I thus contacted Thuisbezorged who did a great job in following our case. Unfortuntately, the feedback was disappointing as they advised that Papa John's had told them that since our pizzas were ready at the time of cancellation, they would not reimburse us. Thuisbezorgd took upon themseleves to give us a voucher for the equivalent of a 25% of the price of the 2 pizzas. As far as we are concerned, Thuisbezorgd are paying for the lack of professionalism and customer attention we were expecting from Papa John's. I have to admit that I have never had this type of subservice online and it is all the more disappointing to see it is a group the size of Papa John's. So bottom line, they took my money and never delivered the...
