Wonders Heerhugowaard — Restaurant in Dijk en Waard

Very disappointing dinner experience. The waitress was writing down our drink orders but she did not manage to get them right. The food was undercooked, I had shrimps (on the BBQ) but when brought to the table I could not peel the shell off at all, I asked the waitress if they can cook the shrimp a little longer. Mind you I have only tried eating one shrimp and half of it was still clinging to its shell. She took my entire plate away with garnishing, salad and side dish. After 15 min she still did not return with my meal. My dinner companions started eating as their food was getting cold. After another 15 min they finally brought my food, it was on a very small plate and it consisted of only 4 peeled shrimp and nothing else. I was hungry and after so much waiting very frustrated, I requested the bill and refused the dish as I perceived it more as an insult. I explained my frustration and told her that is unacceptable to take away someone's dish and return with no side dishes, no salad but a only 4 shrimps. Seemed more like Chef's revenge for daring to send a dish back. She immediately disassociate herself with the restaurant saying she only brings stuff.... The waitress went in to ask if they can do something about it. I told her that I just wish to leave as my evening was already ruined. They took forever to decide that the drinks were for free, not the meal that was undercooked and not even eaten but the drinks... It's safe to say I will not be returning there nor will I advise...

Great restaurant situated at a square in the center of the Middenwaard Mall. Right accross the movie theater. The square has a very laidback vibe and is ideal for what the Dutch call Borrelen, which means drink (alcohol, soda or tea) and snacking (fingerfood like bitterballen, bittergarnituur, french cheeses etc). The restaurant has many launch benches and comfortable seat with large umbrella's for the sun. Lunch is your standard fair, broodjes, omelets, uitsmijters, soup. Good food quality and excellent service. I didn’t expect that good the place. Looks really nice from the outside but the decoration is even better. I recommend you to sit in a place with views outside if it’s good weather, if not sit next to the kitchen and see how they cook, is a real show, you can appreciate there the quality, and if you’re sitting there with somebody amazing even better, to comment the day and what you see in the...
