Grand Café Restaurant De Dijk, nestled in the charming seaside town of Volendam, offers a dining experience that uniquely captures the essence of its coastal setting. The atmosphere at De Dijk is its standout feature, where the breezy, salty air mixes with a quaint, inviting decor, allowing diners to immerse themselves in the serene vibes of the sea just steps away.
While the menu presents a satisfactory selection of dishes that are well-prepared, it somewhat misses the opportunity to fully embrace its maritime locale with a wider variety of seafood options. A few additional dishes celebrating local catches would certainly enhance the culinary experience, aligning it more closely with the restaurant’s prime setting by the water.
Service at De Dijk, however, is commendable. Staff members are consistently upbeat and attentive, contributing positively to the overall dining atmosphere. Their friendly demeanor and prompt service ensure a pleasant visit for guests looking to enjoy a meal in this picturesque location.
Overall, Grand Café Restaurant De Dijk offers a memorable dining experience mainly through its unique setting by the sea and the warm service provided. A slight rethinking of the menu to include more seafood specialties could potentially elevate the establishment to new heights, perfectly complementing the wonderful atmosphere...
Read moreYou have to be a White European to be seated and treated well here!!! We’re a colored American couple, were looking for a nice place to have lunch, we walked up to the restaurant asking for a table for 2, as the waiter was clearing out a table for 2 and she told us yes you can sit here. Then came the manager/owner and told her not to seat us and so she then said there's a reservation and so l asked her is there a wait time, she said I have to ask inside. We waited for her to tell us how long is the wait time but she came back saying they are full. Mind you, there weren't any reserved signs on any of the open tables. As I was looking for how to reserve a table online outside, I watched a white couple walk-in and got seated. So baffled that there is still such ignorance and bigotry in...
Read moreI asked for vegan options and they gave me the menu. Which there was only one: Vega salad: seasonal vegetables-tomato-red onion-nuts. So I ordered this option, but unfortunately it came with cheese, egg and a unknown sauce. I asked the waiter what the sauce is and she couldn’t answer me but she said it was vegan because she asked to the kitchen. The problem is that the kitchen don’t even know that cheese and eggs are not vegan, and there weren’t ingredients shown in the menu. When I pointed that out to the waiter, she checked the menu but with a bad face, as I was maybe wrong and didn’t read clearly the menu. After her check, she changed the plate-again, with a bad face- but they only removed the cheese and the egg. Really...
