I bought some very nice cheeses from here at the beginning of my trip for the New Year's holiday. Also souvenirs from the nearby store. On the way back from Volendam to Amsterdam, I forgot my bags containing all these at the bus stop! This was very bad because my wife and I had bought things that would become very fond memories. And it was only the beginning of the holiday! When we went to Volendam to look for our bags, we found out helplessly that our bags were not there. Just as we were losing hope, we met the woman working here at the bus stop and she said our bags were safe. She spoke to her male co-worker on the phone and learned our destination. We went there immediately. He came to our target stop in the evening just to bring our bags. We were so happy. Because our entire vacation was going to be depressing. Thanks to the highly ethical employees of this store, everything went well. I love them so much. I cannot pay your dues. Thank you Noah and his female colleague (I can't remember her...
Read moreTerrible disappointment and wasted time!
We came to your cheese factory specifically from Amsterdam to show our child how cheese is made and to broaden their horizons. We arrived anticipating an interesting tour. We were told the next tour would be in an hour and a half. We twice clarified if we could join it, and both times we were told: "Yes, of course, just wait."
We obediently waited for an hour and a half, killing time. Imagine our outrage when the tour time arrived, and we were simply told: "No, you can't join, it's a private group." When we tried to object that we had waited for nothing, we were rudely told: "It is what it is, deal with it."
Such an attitude towards visitors, especially a family with a child, is absolutely unacceptable. We lost valuable time and experienced huge disappointment instead of the promised experience. This is simply outrageous. I advise no one to visit this factory if you don't want to face the same indifference and...
Read moreIt's fascinating to see how the Dutch have adapted to the tourist industry. And to think that not long ago these areas worked "for real" at providing a living (such as it may have been) for the inhabitants. It's sobering to realise just how important the dykes are for keeping water levels down. One wrong move and the entire nation could be flooded. To repeat, the cheese manufacturing demos are slick and interesting but you have to be ready for the crowds. And I'm sure that you can buy a decent cheese for a fraction of the price elsewhere. My piece is in the fridge and will be tasted in due course. If it's as good as the taste samples it should be worth the wait. The tourist dining establishments are numerous and feeding significant numbers of visitors. I had to try quite hard to find a sandwich rather than a complete meal but what was provided was easy and...
