Holy, I've never seen such greedy and unhygienic restaurant in my life after visiting many many restaurants across the globe.
First of all, Their vegetables always have flies over them and it seems like they don't care about hygiene (employees literally dripping with sweat) and really shockingly, strong suspicion that there are illegals are working there with no papers since no one can speak even a word of Dutch properly.
I went here 1 month earlier, I also ordered shawarma and the next morning I got diarrhea and stomach ache. I didn't suspect it was Al Balon since it wasn't the only restaurant I've visited. But this time it's very clear why I had these problems and food poisoning.
Anyways these people gave me less than I expected at this time. However this was extremely small compared how everyone else has gotten. I also asked them to include everything in the shawarma. They didn't and gave me the minimal of the minimal. Literally getting f'd over here!
This is not the only thing I've noticed, the workers there are extremely arrogant, so much so that they've switched to someone else sitting when I was talking and confronting them about the small serving size whilst everyone was getting more by 50%. Mind you that the person there wasn't even receiving their order. This came over as extremely rude and mocking.
I asked for restitution, and I showed them that I got less than everyone else, what happened is that the owner refused to give restitution and was threatening to call the police over this matter.
Mind you I'm a very light hearted person and I usually never post 1/5 reviews. But this one really forced me to wish that there was a option to give someone a 0/5 review. I advice people to visit an other restaurant. Anyways the Shawarma wasn't even authentic after visiting more than 30 different shawarma joints across the...
Read moreFirst time ordering chicken shawarma in flat bread. Superb. The chicken is well marinated and grilled. I am happy I finally came to try this place; from time to time I went to the Saturday market, and I saw so many people standing in front of the entrance making messy lines. Today I passed by in the late afternoon around 5 o'clock, only few people waiting for their order so I could see the cooks busy preparing flat breads with yoghurt, slicing the chicken from the grill and they looked so tasty. There was an arab man waiting with his daughter and I asked him what are those and he told me that they are shawarmas. The restaurant has both chicken and beef but if it's my first time I must try the chicken one, first. It's a different world, he said to describe how they taste. So I follow his guidance. Ordered my first Al Balon chicken shawarma (5€), for take away, and stand outside to wait ( in the restaurant it was crowded, and I need fresh air in this hot September day). The service is not really fast, because I saw the guy on the grill was being idealist to make the flat bread nicely browned on the griller. my order was ready at the same time as the Arab guy with his daughter. He ordered around 10 of them, I saw. And had a short chat with the cashier in Arabic. So he seems to be a regular to them.
I biked home with my food and ate. I loved the taste of every bites of it.
Would certainly come back with my...
Read moreAte here more than once for take away. I love the food here. I order always their roasted chicken, you can taste the cardamom and cinnamon in their marinate. I also order the shaoarma either chicken or arabische. The kebabs is also one of my favorite their. Over all very good, though the service on how the order is taken is actually given to you(many times when it is super busy not all order you make is correct, that is why its better to pay in the end when your getting the order)... the person taking the order is nice and kind though... just misses out alot on the completeness of my order. Price is really good. The garlic sauce is an absolute fluffy goodness, comparable to toum or it is toum. One of the best garlic...
