We stayed for two nights at this hotel, and can only say really good things. Very difficult to fault!
We were running the half marathon. I would recommend visiting the city at this time, it really came alive.
I have detailed below some of the more common areas I hope you find useful if considering a stay here. But the best thing was the staff, genuinely very friendly and willing to help my friends and I ensure a happy and pleasant stay.
Jan the barman was very efficient and responsive. He knew we were running and ensured suitable nibbles! Arjan on the desk saw that our morning taxi was scheduled and we were on course for our flight home. He called them up to chase to make sure. Tony looked after us at breakfast and before the race, I think his recommendation of a strong coffee before the race worked! And of course thanks to Maarten whose recommendation of Johnny Walker red label to celebrate the race was good. All of the staff were very chilled and very accommodative, great people who do their company and their country a great credit. I hope to return next year and see if I can improve my time !
Location - superb, a few minutes walk to the city centre. One of the great things about Eindhoven is it is easily walked around. This hotel is close enough without being completely on top of everything. The actual location of the holiday inn is quite quiet and secluded, convenient for parking and travel to and from (we were picked up as had flown in from London) but an easy few minutes walk to the hustle and bustle of bars and restaurants.
Room - we had a standard twin. Very comfortably bed, nice big fluffy pillows! Decent shower and toilet. TV sufficient and it was all very clean and well maintained.
Food - the breakfast was perfect. Excellent continental buffet. All you could want. I had a couple of huge plates of scrambled eggs and toast, plus lots of cereal and yoghurts to fuel me for the race. I don’t think I could have done better for 16 euros in the town, plus the free coffee refills.
I had a great time at this hotel and it was superb value. Very difficult to fault, credit to the staff and thank you to them and the great people of Eindhoven for putting on a great warm welcome for the...
Read moreExcellent hotel to stay in Eindhoven. This is our second time here and it is perfect for us.
REASONABLY CLEAN though the carpets and some appliances look worn/dirty. Bed and bathroom are spotless and well maintained.
VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL STAFF. They were very quick to resolve a miscommunication with a friendly smile. Not a trace of irritation. Same attitude for everything else. Top! Thank you for your hospitality.
PERFECT LOCATION at max. 5 min. walking distance from the center of Eindhoven and the station/public transportation while still close to all connecting roads without the traffic hustle of the center roads. There are plenty of good eateries behind the hotel little walk away from the center of Eindhoven as well.
DAILY HOUSEKEEPING with daily supply of 1 cup hot chocolate powder (to use w/ hot water from the electric kettle also provided), sugar, sweetener, milk powder, tea and coffee (2 cups regular and 2 cups decaffeinated), daily supply of soap, shampoo, bath foam and body lotion from the Duke & Lyle collection (from Bunzl?).
EXCELLENT BREAKFAST buffet with great variety
SIMPLE BUT GOOD AMENITIES like a small pool on the first floor and a gym in the basement. These could be a tad bigger and more decorated, but nothing to complain about really.
SPACIOUS AIRCONDITIONED ROOMS AND LARGE ATTACHED BATHROOM WITH LOCKABLE NON-TRANSPARANT GLASS DOOR (with bathtub/shower combination (not separate), sink, large mirror, hairdryer, make-up/shaving/... mirror, 2 towel racks (2 large towels and 3 smaller towels are provided with the daily choice to wash (on the floor) or keep them (on the rack)) and 2 clothes hangers). Further in the room a large bed, TV, plenty of place to store clothes in the room, plenty of plugs (9) to charge your electric appliances, ironing board & machine, safe, fridge/pre-filled mini bar (not free), desk & chair, Nespresso machine, and lounge fauteuil with small table. Excellent rooms in short.
FREE WORKING WIFI EVERYWHERE
REASONABLY QUIET seeing...
Room – 4 Star
Spacious, Clean, Quiet and Comfortable for a good night sleep.
Usually Holiday Inn Brands are between 3 and 4 stars. So for Holiday Inn standard, I have to score 4.7 out of 5, just for rooms.
I had one of those complimentary upgraded rooms so not sure about a standard rooms, but then standard king bed rooms in the IHG website doesn’t look that different from the upgraded room that was given to me.
Hotel Exterior – 3 star look
Hotel exterior from a distant kind of gives the impression it’s an old and outdated hotel. But inside it is well maintained mostly and rooms are pretty good.
Lobby is again a 3 star look, functional business hotel.
Location – 4 Star
Very close to all the restaurants and shops at the centre of the city. 10 mins walk.
Bathroom/ Toilets & Other Amenities – 3 star
Bathroom was clean and functional. Amenities are just standard and basic items. Cannot complain but cannot praise too.
Restaurant – 3 Star
Only one restaurant at the hotel. Quality of the food is more or less 4 star standard.
Considering the hot food options, Breakfast was 3 star standard.
IHG Elite Membership benefits – 1 Star
This is another IHG hotel in Netherlands, where I didn’t see any sign of water in the room. Considering the fact I am an elite member this is something I usually see in most IHG hotels around the world.
Hotel website picture shows fruits in the room. I guess that must be a picture gimmick. As an elite member I usually see fruits in the room in the rest of the world, but not here.
In comparison with IHG hotels in the rest of the world, Elite membership benefits with IHG hotels in Europe are more or less good for nothing.
I am not sure if I had an upgrade, as upgraded rooms are not that different from their standard rooms anyway.
Gym or Fitness Centre – 2 Star
Small gym , may be good enough for running...
