The Dandy Restaurant Bar — Restaurant in Gouda

We visited this restaurant yesterday. It’s nicely located and tastefully decorated, which gave us a good first impression. The waitress brought us tablets displaying images of the dishes, which was a nice touch. However, the experience went downhill from there.

We ordered three dishes, including what I believed was the seafood risotto, as that was the only risotto pictured on the tablet. All the other dishes were seafood as well. When the food arrived, I was surprised to receive a chicken risotto. I don’t eat meat, and I pointed out the mix-up, showing the waitress the image I had selected. Instead of offering a solution, she showed me the full menu and explained there were multiple risottos, and they couldn’t change it.

This was frustrating and disappointing. If there are multiple versions of a dish and only one is shown on the tablet, the staff should clarify the options when taking the order, especially when dietary preferences are involved.

The food itself was average. The pasta was cold and the tomato sauce lacked flavor, with just four small shrimp. The miso cod was tasty, and my parents enjoyed the risotto, but I couldn't try it. Service was also quite slow.

We had the best evening dinning experience for our family. 15 in all ages 3-72. Betty made it a night to remember. So much so that our 14 year granddaughter said she could not remember having that much fun at a dinner out. The food was delicious ( nothing left on our plates) and our server was just amazing.
