A family-operated hidden gem in Groningen. Here, you can find authentic Indonesian street food that is usually missed in regular restaurants in the Netherlands. We thought the mie ayam and batagor were great. The chicken and meatballs of the first were both juicy and delicious. The noodles were just a bit too greasy. The combination of fish cakes and peanut sauce is excellent in batagor. Just note that the portions are quite small for the price. Our tahu walik, however, did not come with the side sauce, and we were not told if we had to get it ourselves. They were overall ok, and the highlight is the springy tapioca texture. The cendol was great with lovely pandan jelly pieces and not too much sweetness, and the bajigur (coconut latte) was good. The restaurant is open on Sundays for lunch, and for those who haven't grown up in West Java, I'd recommend coming to try this hard-to-find Indonesian...

If you live in the Netherlands, youâre definitely familiar with nasi rames, nasi & bami goreng, sate ayam, etc. While you can find great tokoâs offering a variety of dishes inspired by Indonesian cuisine in Groningen, thereâs none that offers actual street food that modern-day Indonesians grow up eating. Think of batagor, pempek, mie ayam, bakso, cireng.. Although you wonât find your usual nasi rames speciaal, do come in to experience a different side of Indonesian cuisine & the great hospitality of the staffs!
You can reserve a table & order in advance - they respond pretty quickly. Jajanan also offers some frozen food if you want to stock up at home. I tried the frozen bakso & pempek, theyâre quite good!
