A family-operated hidden gem in Groningen. Here, you can find authentic Indonesian street food that is usually missed in regular restaurants in the Netherlands. We thought the mie ayam and batagor were great. The chicken and meatballs of the first were both juicy and delicious. The noodles were just a bit too greasy. The combination of fish cakes and peanut sauce is excellent in batagor. Just note that the portions are quite small for the price. Our tahu walik, however, did not come with the side sauce, and we were not told if we had to get it ourselves. They were overall ok, and the highlight is the springy tapioca texture. The cendol was great with lovely pandan jelly pieces and not too much sweetness, and the bajigur (coconut latte) was good. The restaurant is open on Sundays for lunch, and for those who haven't grown up in West Java, I'd recommend coming to try this hard-to-find Indonesian street food.

The place to go for actual Indonesian streetfood! If you live in the Netherlands, you’re definitely familiar with nasi rames, nasi & bami goreng, sate ayam, etc. While you can find great toko’s offering a variety of dishes inspired by Indonesian cuisine in Groningen, there’s none that offers actual street food that modern-day Indonesians grow up eating. Think of batagor, pempek, mie ayam, bakso, cireng.. Although you won’t find your usual nasi rames speciaal, do come in to experience a different side of Indonesian cuisine & the great hospitality of the staffs! You can reserve a table & order in advance - they respond pretty quickly. Jajanan also offers some frozen food if you want to stock up at home. I tried the frozen bakso & pempek, they’re quite good! PS: Jajanan is only open on Sundays. Place your order during the week & have it ready for your Sunday lunch or dinner 😌

So happy this place exist! definitely filling in the gap the indonesian food market in the north missing: Jajanan! when most indonesian places are either rijsttafel or takeaway, this place offer freshly made “snacks” big and small. when you’re just a bit hungry yet you want to taste different things. The prices of the dishes is affordable, the portion is also smaller yet that to me is what “Jajanan” is. For 2 people €51, I definitely over ordered. I had ayam geprek, cuanki, lumpia, mie ayam, tempe mendoan (i expected wetter batter, it was fried crispy and missing the green birds eye chilli), and 3 drinks. Flavours were authentic and delicious. In the end we left with happy tummy!

Venturing on a gastronomic quest from Antwerp to Groningen might sound like a wild journey, but let me assure you, it was a decision that transcended mere mileage, because it’s worth the effort ! Nestled amidst the charming streets of Groningen, this hidden gem, beckons adventurous souls and hungry hearts alike ! From the moment I stepped through the door, I was greeted by friendly staff. Their warm smiles, enthusiasm, and ambiance set the tone for typical Indonesian genuine hospitality. And the food, of course they were amazing ! Every dish that graced my table was a kind of nostalgic journey back then when I was living in Indonesia. I couldn't help but make a silent promise to...
