Restaurant Nassau — Restaurant in Groningen

Visited in November last year with my wife. A fantastic restaurant and dining experience from start to finish. The food was superb and service was excellent, the care and attention with which the food was prepared and presented, coupled with the experienced and knowledgeable chef made the meal an unforgettable dining experience. The Maître-sommelier Ronald has an exceptional knowledge of wines and the explanation and pairing with food was fantastic without being overly complicated. All in all this was a great experience and more than just a meal. We cannot wait to return, many thanks. My only suggestion would be to take more time with sourcing better quality coffee. There are some fantastic specialty coffee roasters in the Netherlands and beyond who could provide you with some amazing coffees which would be a better fit for the final end to the meal. I implore you to take some time and do some real coffee tastings and find something that pairs better (there are so many similarities with wines and good quality, well prepared coffee, the aromas,...

We went to restaurant Nassau to celebrate a birthday. Honestly, I can not understand how this restaurant did not receive a Michelin star so far. The food definitely is on the level of the other Michelin star restaurants in Groningen and the service is rather on the level of 2-3 stars. Especially the sommelier made the experience remarkable. Amazing food, amazing wines which fit the menu very well, and a great atmosphere. We celebrated a birthday and when we left, we were handed a little take-home gift with a card written in the native language of my partner. A very nice gesture from a restaurant that really deserves the star that they (I assume) rightfully are aiming for. If you are in Groningen this is definitely a must visit and I am glad to come...

Vanaf het moment dat we binnenkwamen bij Restaurant Nassau in Groningen, werden we overweldigd door de warme ontvangst en de prachtige ambiance. We zaten in een aparte zaal aan een grote ovale tafel met uitzicht op zowel het restaurant als de tuin van het hotel. De aandacht voor detail was duidelijk zichtbaar, van de akoestiek en verlichting tot de temperatuur gedurende de avond.

We genoten van een 5-gangen experience menu met een groep van 7 personen, waaronder een kind. Ondanks onze lijst met uitzonderingen, die we enkele dagen van tevoren hadden doorgegeven, wist de keuken het menu perfect aan te passen, inclusief alle amuses. Dit zorgde voor een fantastische start van de avond.

Een groot compliment aan Jeroen, de restaurantmanager, die zijn team uitstekend heeft geleid gedurende de avond. Het bedienend personeel, bestaande uit Ronald (sommelier), Christian, Dion & Stephan (de creatieve geesten achter de goddelijke creaties uit de keuken), Esmée, Rosita & Sophie (wijklopers), was uiterst correct en oprecht. Ze zorgden ervoor dat we ons direct thuis voelden in het restaurant. De creatie van Tom Kha als dessert was een absoluut hoogtepunt!

We kijken er naar uit om terug te keren naar Restaurant Nassau. Volgende keer boeken we zeker een kamer om volledig van de ervaring te kunnen genieten. Een absolute aanrader voor iedereen die op zoek is naar een onvergetelijke culinaire ervaring...
