Puerto Burrito — Restaurant in Hilversum

Where to begin? The quality of the food is impeccable. When we visited, the restaurant was empty, which made the atmosphere even more peaceful and enjoyable.

As for the service — nothing to complain about. We were served very quickly.

Having tried several Mexican food spots across the Netherlands, I can confidently say this one ranks among the best. In many other places, you either get small portions, or generous ones with no real flavor — just some sauce thrown on top. Here, the dish actually has taste. You can feel the journey, the quality of the ingredients, and the care taken in how they’re combined. You can sense the passion for cooking — there’s soul...

This was fantastic. The portions were so big and we were served by identical twins, so for a moment I thought I was seeing double. We had cocktails to start (Long Island Ice Tea and Puerto Mezcal Guave) which was great. To eat we had the pulled beef burrito and pulled chicken tacos. You might want to compare the prices to other mexican places in Hilversum, but you have to remember that those are fast food. This is not fast food, this is excellent. The cocktails and meals were prepared by professionals. Come and support these guys! The atmosphere was also great, we were sitting outside under fairy lights on the street corner watching people pass...

Came in for a quick bite, which turned into a loooooong wait. We came in at 19.00 and got placed in a corner by the window. The windows is single glass so the place gets cold.

The waitress came to get our order. So we ordered our main course and a drink. The beer (an Amstel) came in the bottle with no glass. After that we had to wait a full hour before we got our food. Note that the restaurant wasn't even filled for 25%.

When the food arrived I got the wrong dish. Which we saw half way through the meal. We told the waitress. She was shocked and asked ME how to fix this?!?! At the end the fixed it nicely by removing some drinks from the bill because I asked for that.

The food itself was okay. But the waiting, the order switchup and the cold restaurant made us leave not impressed with the place.

They seem to mainly focus on take away. So if you want a better experience....just get a burrito and eat it at home.

Update voor de eigenaar: Ik bouw klant contact systemen voor mijn werk. Dus ik ben hier iets strenger op dan gemiddeld. Ik begreep dat het druk was in de keuken. Maar kom even naar de tafel gelopen om te zeggen dat het druk is en dat het daardoor allemaal wat langer gaat duren. Dat voelt totaal anders voor de klant. Nu moest mijn tafelgenoot naar de bar lopen om te vragen of het eten bijna kwam. En als er iets mis gaat dan zeg je meteen: oke dit los ik op door x of y. Maak nooit van jouw probleem, het probleem van de klant.

Ik snap dat we nog op tijd waren voor de escape room. Maar we hadden best nog wel een dessertje gelust als hier tijd voor was geweest. Dat schoot...
