Gasterij 51 — Restaurant in Middelburg

Great little bar tucked slightly away from the tourist traps that litter the town squares of Middleburg. The menu is tight, presumably with an emphasis on quality, and the steak and fries I was served were ace. Literally some of the greatest chips I've ever tasted, I had to reign myself in from ordering a second portion. My wife, as a lifelong resident of Texas, considers herself somewhat of an expert when it comes to ribs, and she declared hers to be out of this world; a great blend of dry and wet rubs with the ribs themselves cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. I really like this place, nice service and good beers. But i noticed that quality of food is unequal. Some are amazing, other average. I was there a couple of times, and my opinion is, that meat thete is much better than fish. I love the steak and pepper sauce! Besloten om hier te gaan lunchen op dinsdag. De stad was overvol en in de meeste horecazaken waren een stuk meer tafels gevuld dan hier, toch besloten het een kans te geven. De koffie had een aparte bittere smaak, beiden zeiden wij dit direct en gaven het aan bij de bediening. Het zouden koffiepads zijn in plaats van gemalen bonen. Dat was direct het antwoord waar het vandaan kwam. Kwestie van smaak volgens de bediening en het zou aan ons liggen want niemand had hen dit eerder verteld of opgemerkt. De bediening had het hier onderling nog over en dit oogde niet professioneel. Het eten qua lunch was op de iets verbrande boterhammen na, prima. Niet heel bijzonder. De wc's stonken behoorlijk naar urinelucht en de bediening liep van onze tafel direct weer naar haar vaste kruk aan de bar.
