Strandclub Witsand — Restaurant in Noordwijk

Their FAQ mentioned that they provide high chairs for children, but despite having a 3-year-old with us, they never offered one. When we asked, they claimed they didn’t have any, even though it was listed on their website.

They also state on their website that they will help you choose a table to your liking, which clearly wasn’t the case.

The staff was rude, to the point that it was baffling why they were speaking to us that way.

We were seated far from everyone else, right by a pathway at a tiny table that didn’t even have enough space for food. Meanwhile, everyone else was comfortably seated and enjoying their meals. We were so far from the group, exposed to the wind, that it truly felt like we were outside.

All the nearby tables were served multiple times while no one came to our table for 25 minutes(!) Not surprising because table is so outside that it doesn't look like it belong to the place

Additionally, they don’t have a phone or supervisors on-site, so there’s no one to complain to. It also seemed like they don’t view children as customers, which was disappointing.

To top it off, they charged us for overpriced water, even though we hadn’t ordered food and left after experiencing Witsand’s lack...

The best rib-eye I've have had in the Randstad. Perfectly chargrilled and cooked to perfection medium rare. The homemade butter that came with it was also a perfect pairing. Definitely get this if you want your mouth to be happy.

The seabass was fresh but didn't quite have the xfactor but the ingredients were quality.

What pulled it away from a 5 star was the absolute disappointment of the burrata. Check the photo and feel the Italian sadness. It was prepared way too cold so the middle was hard. Also the sauce underneath overpowered the subtle taste of the cheese and the beefsteak tomatoes were bland.

The tuna tartare also took a beating of flavour with the chilli's being present. You taste the tuna and you feel delighted and then boom your mouth gets blasted with heat and the tuna tastes like nothing. Why do you do this to me?

Overall if you order right or just go for a drink you'll have a good time. Great spot on the beach and cool decor.

The last thing that was weird was the waiter poured the wine into our glasses whilst holding the glass. Felt like I was back at a student party. If you have high prices, you have to match it with high quality service.

We came on a typical Dutch summer day so wind a bit if sun and chance of rain 😉. I didn't book upfront because of this but I think on a nice day it'll be packed so book a spot. We went for lunch and we're welcomed by a hostess /waitress and she took us to a spot inside with the menus already given and a bottle of water so no wait there drinks were taken and provided fast as well. Food was delicious we ordered the beef burger and the eggs. They have a few veggie options but they come with spices and if you like or can't handle spicy food I don't know if they can change it (we didn't ask) food was provided quite okay although the eggs were a little cold already. The service and people working there are friendly and enjoying their work. All in all a very good experience and I'll be back one day only downside is it's a bit of drive from where I live (about 50 min) but I wanted to come here already for a while so my birthday was the perfect time have a birthday lunch. PS the fries are the handmade ones...
