That this restaurant is in Aruba, makes me wish I was living in Aruba :-)
I was there in September 2018 and went to this restaurant twice. Very friendly hosts. I was with a group of (mostly) Americans on a mission trip and I told them that Surinamese food would be good. Yanti's didn't disappoint at all!
First night, I had the chicken with brown bean soup. The portions were massive! The main plate was full with nasi/bami (fried rice/Dutch noodles) and cabbage, chicken on the side, a bowl of brown bean soup and complimentary sides (some chicken liver thing and some "kroepoek" which are prawn crackers/chips). Was about AWG 24.50.
Second night, the same large plate of noodles and rice, plus peanut satay skewers and the sides. Again, divine. AWG 17.50 I think. (I would have liked some extra peanut sauce on the side, but that's just me loving peanut sauce)
Each night I had to have an extra Loempia (spring roll) - they are like AWG4 each and packed with veggies. Not as large as the ones you would get in The Netherlands, but almost. Very nice.
So I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone who is going...
Read moreFirst of all, I'm native and went to lunch at Yanti. I've been many times for the roti. We always get nice and polite waitresses. That day we had one lady she came and we spoke or local language. As soon as we spoke, she replied sarcastically that she only spoke dutch. I can speak dutch but the way she responded wasn't very nice. We almost left but by the way she spoke to but still gave her a chance. We ordered and got our food after that we didn't see her we needed salt etc. So we've asked another waitress. We knew her we've been helped many times by her. She probably from venezuela but she was polite and the first time she helped is she excuses herself for not speaking papiamento very well. That's how you supposed to treat your clients. So for the food it wasn't the same the green beans wasn't really green and the sauce wasn't thick like always I hope for the next time we don't get that lady...
Read moreMy daughter and I stopped by here last night for dinner. Was only about five minutes drive via cab from our hotel (renaissance Ocean view). We enjoyed some delicious appetizers (huge chicken satay sticks with peanut sauce, large chicken samosas) and then we both opted for roti dinners. I had the roti with beef curry and she had the roti with lamb curry. Both came with a potato curryand green bean curry and both dinners were quite delicious. We got some bone in chicken curry and white rice to go. The restaurant is clean and airy, with simple decor. Staff is very helpful and friendly and the prices are inexpensive compared to the nearby tourist centric restaurants. This really is more of a local hang out. Highly...
