As soon as I found out that there was a Peruvian restaurant in Aruba, I needed to see it for myself given my Peruvian heritage. I walk in and it was a great layout of the restaurant given it has the Peruvian colors and the flag itself. Our waitress, Marisa, was really attentive and took our order. She was happy to see us as she was Peruvian herself. We ordered lomo saltado, ceviche and chicha morada. The purple corn drink was excellent. It was a good balance itâs not too sweet itâs not too sour. It was just right and cold, refreshing. The ceviche platter, a little pricey, but it was good overall. Grouper is a very soft fish compared to tilapia which which Iâm used to eating as it has a stronger firm texture. Itâs good for people that donât have strong teeth but the flavor was good. The Lomo saltado beef was delicious, he needs a little salt but I order some aji, saucy sauce on the side which was a good flavor addition to the dish. Overall, I do enjoy this Peruvian restaurant as it was a good addition to my travel to Aruba and it was great to have a good flavor of Peru in a different county and put good effort to recreate the Peruvian experience. So when your in Aruba and you want to taste Peru, come to this restaurant, you...
Read moreI can't believe I forgot to review this place. I went this past summer on the recommendation from a local. We got there at just before 2pm one day and almost missed the special. You get a soup, an entrée and a dessert for a set price. But you can also order anything else on the menu. We ordered chicken wonton which were not part of the special and they were so delicious. There isn't much chicken inside. But they're cooked nice and crisp and come with a sweet dipping sauce we got a small cup of beef soup which was good. Except that it was lukewarm, hence my less star. We all got the fish dish which came with rice and veggies and a delicious lemon sauce. The dessert that day happened to be ice cream. The staff was very nice and the air conditioning inside...
Read moreIf you love Peruvian food, you will LOVE El Chalan. We had the ceviche, fried fish, lomo saltado, and the aji de gallina. The ceviche was so good we (mostly I) cleaned the entire plate. The Aji de Gallina had a subtle kick at the end that distinguished it from any I've had in quite some time. It was delicious. The fried fish tasted like it was just caught. Our least favorite was the Lomo Saltado...not because it wasn't good but we've grown accustomed to eating Lomo in NYC where the cut of meet is far superior than what you might be able to get in anywhere else. Oh...and this is probably the most affordable restaurant you will find in...
