I love Asian food: the colors, the saltiness, the sharp flavors, the crisp vegetables. But GINGER was a resounding disappointment. Our appetizers were average: a s[ring roll filled with vegetables (a salad in rice paper) and a bland Thai beef salad which was three slices of rare roast beef sitting on shredded cabbage in a soy marinade with some mandarin orange sections. They came in a reasonable time, but our dinner entrees did not emerge from the kitchen for an hour, and only after my wife and I separately, got up from the table to politely inquire where our dinner was. Mind you, we had ordered nothing complicated and a well-run Asian kitchen with the ingredients prepared at the start of the workday would have had these dishes hot and ready. When they came -- a chicken chili noodle dish and a seafood stir-fry -- they were nearly flavorless. Our chicken dishes were several strips of braised chicken thigh in a plateful of nearly unseasoned noodles -- the sort of thing a college freshman with no skills would have made and then thrown out half-eaten -- and although the shrimp and salmon in the stir-fry looked pink and appealing, they had been drained of all flavor or they were poor quality to begin with.
A depressing dinner for four. We would have had better food at the buffet -- mac and cheese and chicken tenders.

Read moreUghhhh, just nope. If "Nope" was a restaurant, it's this place. Each dish I tried was missing something, that little thing that makes a dish have that unique flavor. The Tom Kah Kai was the embodiment of mid. No lime flavors, no galangal, no spice at all, no mushrooms, tough chicken, no fish sauce. I honestly don't know what they made me. The steamed bao with chicken thigh was ok, but again no spice even though the menu said "szechuan sauce". Then there's the green chicken curry. What a joke. Best part about it was the bok choy, so you know there's a problem. It was all the same things wrong as the soup. And again, NO SPICE!!! Literally just tasted like coconut cream with some bok choy and chicken, nothing else. As it's part of an all inclusive resort, I can't say I expected much, but this was an embarrassment. And to top it off, I now have stomach cramps as I'm writing this. ...
Read moreWent to Ginger last night. Disaster! Ordered drinks at first. Wait, wait, wait. Two appetizers and a soup, really. I ordered only one appetizer Still no drinks. Main course comes out, still no drinks. The waitress stated to my wife, "you didn't get your drinks"? Well of course not, it's your job. Brought out one drink to my wife, I didn't want mine as I was done with dinner. She didn't wait on us any more, a waiter took over for her. Mind you, we didn't give her a hard time. It's an all inclusive restaurant, I never expect great service, but the service was horrendous. I can't give her name as I don't want this to fall back on her with management. I won't be back and I cut her additional tip in half. Just disappointing. Also, if you have blood pressure issues be careful as there was some high sodium in the soup. ...
