Oesterproeverij Pekaar - Oesters, mosselen & meer — Restaurant in Reimerswaal

The food was very delicious, with a vew to the oyster culture pools - I had mussels and potato croquettes, from the pregnant Menu, my kid had a ham and cheese grilled sandwich and my hubby, oysters and wine. We shared the dessert of lemon- the tart was warm nicely contrasting with the ball of lemon ice cream. Everything was very tasty. The staff was lovely and brought coloring books and pencils to the kid. There is a baby changer in the toilet.

The only problem is accessibility through stairs and location of the toilet. The toilet is outside, downstairs, passing through the kitchen, so you have to go in the rain or cold if you need to use it. The sink was out of service, so hand washing was done back inside. To get to it you pass under the food exhaustion from the kitchen and get a bit smoked with frying scents. Other than that...

Food - we tried lobster soup and set of 10 different oysters with some culinary twists. I wouldn’t recommend to try the set of 10 different flavors as out of these 10 the regular ones were the tastiest. In other ones where they add things like passion fruit, pure ice with gin and tonic, etc you cannot even taste the oyster and because of that the price of around 4 EUR per piece becomes too much. Service and facilities - not the best. The waitress spilled oysters/sea water on our backpack and didn’t say a word. The food totally overpriced - the oysters without any toppings were good but the toppings, no matter how creative and tasty on their own they were, made the oyster taste completely disappear. We felt like sourcing oysters at a fishmonger and shucking them at home for a fraction of price would be an equivalent if not better experience. The toilets are outside and dirty, and, to our greatest surprise, had malfunctioning sink without water.
