Curry's Kralingen — Restaurant in Rotterdam

The vibes felt off as soon as we walked in, and I wish I’d trusted my gut and gone somewhere else. We got there around 18:10 and ordered two sharing platters. Our starters (two soups and onion bhajis) came at 19:00. Then we waited another 35 minutes for two more bhajis, whilst there was nothing for my secondary starter. I asked the waitress when the mains would arrive, as it had been over an hour and a half by then, and she said they’d be out quickly. I asked AGAIN at 20:15, as were ready to pay for the drinks and leave, but she said advised they’re coming out right now! The mains finally arrived at 20:20…While the food seemed fresh, the naans weren’t. Both waitresses touched them in front of me to check, and were surprised when I asked for new ones. The replacements were fresh, unlike the first lot so it was justified of me to say they felt heated up.

After three hours there, I asked for some compensation for the bad service and lack of communication. The waitress wouldn’t even give us 10% off, only knocking €6 off for the water we shared after using multiple excuses about a chef calling in sick (why wouldn’t you tell us this when we arrived?) and then that she assumed we wanted to spend a lot of time there as we ordered the sharing platters? I think 3 hours was a bit much…

Wouldn’t recommend this...

Curry's Rotterdam

Vandaag is het maandag. Ik weet niet wat ik wil eten want mn vriend is niet thuis en ik heb geen zin om te koken. Ik woon net 2 weken samen op de Oudedijk en kan me vaag een bord voor de deur van Curry's herinneren. Dagschotel 10,50. We letten aan het eind van de maand allemaal wel eens op de centen, zeker na een verhuizing. Ik besluit Curry's te bellen. Hoi wat is de dagschotel vandaag en wat krijg je erbij? Hallo mevrouw, het is Chicken Massala Mild met rijst en naan. Ik twijfel over mild, want ik houd van pittig. Ik twijfelde, zeg bedankt en vertel dat ik straks even langs kom. (Of stiekem toch niet) Toch bel ik 10 minuten later of ze van mild pittig kunnen maken. Ze vertellen dat het alleen kan als ze het vers voor me maken, gewoon tegen de prijs van 10,50. Super zeg ik, eenmaal de pittige dagschotel met rijst en naan. Over 15 minuten mocht ik het komen afhalen. In het restaurant, wat meer op een bar leek dan een indiaas restaurant was dezelfde man erg vriendelijk en vroeg gelijk: jij had gebeld voor pittig toch? Hij haalde het eten uit de keuken en wenste mij eetsmakelijk. Door het niet indiase interieur en geen enkele geur van eten ging ik toch wat sceptisch naar huis en werd ik daar flink verrast:

Ik heb 6 maanden in Mumbai gewoond dus ik ben erg kritisch over indiaas eten in nederland, maar dit overtrof toch mijn verwachtingen. Perfecte fluffy naan, heerlijk malse kip, goed in balans gekruid én pittig. Ik heb mij weer even in India gewaand, waar ik het zo mis. Unfortunately something seemed to have changed last months. We used to have a good meal and nice service. But today was very disappointing. Especially for me. I asked about my allergies, but the food came with coriander on top. So I had to wait for the replacement and my company was already finished when it arrived. But now without any vegetables. Also we did not get all the naans. They said they will ask for it, but it never came. No sorry, no compensation, no nothing. Never be...
