La Bandera 🇩🇴 — Restaurant in Rotterdam

Tldr: We did not had a good time here. Were provided multiple times with the wrong food, the quality of the food was not great. We could not enjoy a dessert since she did not tell that the kitchen closes at 21:30. Waitress was also not that well equipped in manners.

Todo: ask the waitress to note down your order, because she clearly cannot remember it.

Long story: We read that a lot of people had a fantastic time at La Bandera. With that mind I and my friends also arrived.

After she was finished serving food to the table next to us, I tried to get her attention with a short "madam", she did not responded and I said it a little louder. She then replied with a "bark" sound of a dog. While it was a bit funny and odd it did set kind of the attitude for the rest of the night.

We ordered three appetizers, two chicken, one cheesballs. Unfortunately she did not provided us one chicken, two cheesballs. Okay, no problem this can happen and we did not make a fuzz about it. Going to the main course we ordered again and again we were provided with the wrong ratio, one fries instead of two. We were all a bit disappointed by the quality of the food as well.

We wanted to order dessert because the names implied something delicious. Unfortunately we never got to see those. At ~21:45 when we wanted to order, she said "unfortunately our kitchen is already closes at 21:30". We were astonished and asked why she did not share this with us. What kitchen closes at 21:30 and cannot deliver some dessert? At that moment we also mentioned that she us provided with the wrong food multiple times. She then offered to put the fries in a bag to take home. You just said the kitchen was closed? Then when I came up to the front. I saw that there were still people working and providing food from the kitchen. I was really flabbergasted... We left and got our dessert...

Almost don't wanna give it a high rating so it wouldn't be easy to spot by others. Wanna keep the place to myself 😄

Everything - service, atmosphere and food were perfect. Not a huge menu which is a good sign. We took mixed grill and literally licked our fingers. I tried many good grills across the world, including Texas BBQ, but this was even better. One of the best grills I've ever had.

The only fault... Maybe a bit small portions for the price. The prices Rose significantly vs the menu on the website, so I would expect maybe slightly bigger sides, to just fill you a bit more, but ok. Sometimes you have to pay more for the quality I guess ✌🏽

Will definitely come back to try...

Service was terrible, they were very neglecting and forgot to bring my bollitos de yuca which was supposed to be the best part.

I got the chuleta which was very bland a dry. Would expect at least some sauce. I ordered it with yucas which were also very dry, just a plate of fried and dry stuff. It would be nice to get at least some greens and sauces to make the experience nicer!

Caribbean food is supposed to be rich, flavorful, filling, saucy, delicious. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

Paid 20 euros for a meal I could have done 1000x better at home. Don't think I will be...
