Unlike many nearby restaurants, this one is not allergen friendly.

1). I ordered a salad after informing the server of a wheat allergy. The salad arrived with white bread pieces as croutons. I sent the salad back.

2). The salad returned unchanged. I was told the chef confidently believed that white bread did not contain wheat. This is not a joke.

3). When the chef remade the salad, they reused the same shrimps that had been in contact with the bread. At this point it isn't clear the chef knows what an allergy is.

4). I was told the shrimp were reused only after I'd eaten one of them, despite having been told this would be a "new" salad. At this point, the meal would be on the house at any self-respecting establishment.

5). There was never any offer to reduce the price of the final salad or somehow compensate for the chef's incompetence. Instead, they insisted on payment of the full price.

So. The chef has 0 concept of how to serve customers with allergies. The staff has 0 interest in treating customers with food allergies with respect. Most restaurants would be deeply apologetic about repeatedly botching an order that could potentially harm a customer. Not this one.

Do yourself a favor, if you have a food allergy, and...

The Sint Maarten Yacht Club is home to the world renowned Heineken Regatta. On premises, there is a unique bar/restaurant open to the public. It is located right on the canal and next to the draw-bridge, which allows yachts to enter or leave Simpson Bay Lagoon.

This might be one of the best Happy Hour locations of the world: Coinciding with Happy Hour are the bridge openings and majestic mega yachts are squeezing through the tight bridge openings just 15 feet away from the terrace. That's close enough to overhear the conversations of the crew, close enough to witness the stressed out faces of the captains steering their floating palaces through a gap which leaves only inches of clearance on each side of the yachts.

Food: The Yacht Club doesn't claim to be a gourmet restaurant and offers competent comfort food at decent prices. (Try the appetizer Grouper Fingers - delicious and big enough portion to fill you up for the day). The bar is run with great efficiency, drinks are reasonably priced and service is very friendly and competent.

Crowd: Many of the regulars are also members of the Yacht Club, expatriates who arrived in St. Maarten on their own boats and stayed. Especially on Friday evenings, the bar is filled with...

This is one of islands best casual food eateries and not just one but one with a one-of-a-kind view over the Simpson Bay Bridge and the Yacht Marina. Come during bridge opening times to see the Super yachts pass by from up VERY CLOSE, these 50m plus boats will be just meters away.

And then the food, this place serves great food for the price. Don’t expect find dining but just delicious finger licking food. Comfort food of all kinds, from their famous goat cheese and walnut salads, to the juicy burgers, jerk chicken wraps, steaks and fish, everything is just good. Especially considering the very affordable pricing.

So when you hear “Yacht Club” do not expect an exclusive get together with people in polo and fancy shirts. Yes, those are here as well, but this is really a place for everyone, Captain, crew, locals, island visitors and their pets are all welcome!

A real hub in Sint Maarten for all 😃 Here a picture from the view, will upload some food...

We enjoyed the little bit of time that we spent here. We did not eat but had a drink or two. This restaurant was recommended by people we met recently. They told us we should definitely check this place out. I am glad they did. The drinks we great. The staff was friendly. Although we didn't eat...what we smelled smelled delicious and we saw other people eating and it looked very good. I would like to come back in the future to try the food.

This rating is for the restaurant which has a spectacular view next to the Simpson Bay bridge and Lagoon. Eating breakfast lunch for dinner when the bridge opens to let the mega yachts and catamaran enter or exit. It’s always fun to watch. Usually a lively people around happy hour and in the evening. Staff is very friendly and good solid food with some Dutch appetizers. Best bloody Mary on the island and a very good Benedict.
