Hamachi Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Schiedam

Okay so let me start with the positives. Servers were quite nice and efficient, owner (lady) was very friendly. Atmosphere was great, the place was clean and table settings were nice. But when it comes to food, I wasn’t really happy about it. Every dish had something that just didn’t fit. Most sushi was nice, but the shrimp tempura, the crispy parts were a bit too hard and the sushi size were not consistent. The udon was a bit dry, tempura shrimp were great sized but the batter seemed to have been double fried. Gyoza was not home made and yakitori I had much better ones. Hotate had a mayo based sauce…and karaage you can find better quality at for example in Takumi Ramen places. The food felt a bit all you can eat, and not elevated enough for the price they are asking. This is my take, but many other customers...

Sometimes we have dinner at the restaurant, but sometimes we order out. This time we ordered to be delivered at our home. I was surprised to see it delivered at exactly the time it was supposed to be delivered. Almost to the second. It was an experience like with the Japanese railways, which stick to the time, rain or shine. Terrific. It was not the first time that the delivery was perfect. One would almost forget the quality of the food. It was once again excellent. What was supposed to be warm, was warm. What was supposed to be cold, was cold. Separate bags for each. Wonderful. Great...

I've visited Hamachi about 5 times by now and without any doubts this is the best Japanese food restaurant in Schiedam-Rotterdam area.

First of all the food is always extremely fresh and originally served. Secondly the staff is very pleasant, gives good suggestions and tries to be swift with all the orders. Lastly the location is easy to reach since it's walking distance from train and tram stations.
