Césant in de Korenbeurs — Restaurant in Schiedam

Lunch under the best roof of Schiedam. We like to come here regularly as couple, but also with our daughter of 5 or with visitors. The library building (and its glass roof) is one of the sights in Schiedam, imo. The restaurant is fantastic for a small lunch (the typical Dutch 'broodjes', soup, small dishes to accompany drinks), coffee with cakes or drinks. The menu offers a lot, with the limitations of the tiny kitchen. But as a former employee of a gastronomy kitchen, I am impressed every time what the people here are able to create, in the little room they have. Really outstanding. I was never disappointed. Beautiful luminous site within the library. Outdoor seating available too. High and regular tables available. We went for lunch, expect from 9€ (sandwich) to 20€ (lasagna or other larger meal) per main course. Beers from 3.35-6€.

What’s so interesting is the location with books to borrow for your meal. Kids love the large kids area including a good selection of Duplos to play with. Only disadvantage was the long wait for the meal, more than 30 min.

Also slight disappointment that the parm salad listed with figs didn’t have any.

This is the worst Horeca i’ve ever witnessed. Passive aggressive waiter. Bitter burnt coffee. Half of the terras is closed and a lot of people wanted to sit but they were rejected by the same antisocial waiter. So they walked away. It is not giving great vibes. Many old people walking around trying to find a seat ın a nice weather day was just upsetting. I gave my table to them and left. This group has to do better at...
