A Great Experience for Celiacs, Even if Truffle Isn’t My Thing

I dined at Ich & Dich in Sittard and tried the mushroom truffle risotto. The dish was packed with a strong truffle flavor and an abundance of mushrooms, including some varieties I’d never encountered before—definitely interesting!

Eating out with celiac disease can be challenging, especially when you don’t speak the language fluently. Fortunately, I had a translation card from the Netherlands Celiac Society, which the waiter reviewed carefully to ensure my dish was safe. Their attention to detail gave me peace of mind, and I truly appreciated the effort.

My first visit to Ich & Dich

Met up with my partners colleague for lunch and a chat. The waiters were attentive and professional, the food selection was decent, there are plenty of options for people with dietary restrictions and food allergies (Not too many vegan options but definitely a lot of vegetarian alternatives) for two rounds of drinks and a meal we were able to keep the bill just under 50 euros (something not easily achievable when having a sit down lunch at a Dutch restaurant). the outdoor seating is heated so even during colder days this restaurant is an option (especially for people worried about contracting covid from indoor seating) a definite thumbs up from me, wouldn't mind...

Went for dinner but returned after a coffee. The staff was not following any hygienic standards at all. No masks, no social distancing during taking orders or going around, no hand sanitizer in the entire place, no cleaning of tables after guest leaves, no nothing. One staff was eating and then going behind the bar to make drinks at the same time and them walinkg again to eat. If that was the outside how can I sit and eat the food that is prepared behing doors. Based on their menu and the prices, I expected atleast some education of the staff in the time of a pandemic. Literally childish behaviour by adults. Macdonald's service seems more hygienic then...
