Tourist trap! This restaurant needs to really learn how to behave with customers. It was the worst experience with a really really impolite manager/ waitress head. I ordered Indonesian chicken satay with no sauce, if possible just simple, the waitress said yes possible, but at the end brought the chicken marinated with that sauce. I could not eat that but the manager came to us aggressively and said you should eat it because you ordered exactly this one!!! 😯 That was shocking because she didn't listen to us, never asked her waitress if maybe it was her mistake for the wrong order or not, and went to the payment process directly. She also told two of us who were eating their own sandwiches, that this is not allowed but really really harsh and impolite.😳😳 that was despites we have ordered some other foods, desserts and drinks and the restaurant was almost free. Actually we were completely shocked by her behavior. I have never ever seen like that. Finally we canceled the desserts, paid and left the place. She was no sorry about it. I don't recommend this restaurant who don't want to respect their customers, only thinks the money.😔 BTW, her behavior doesn't change my mind about beautiful Giethoorn! I will...

We ordered a homemade rib dish, fish & chips, a crispy burger, and a cappaccio. Here's a quick breakdown:
🍖 Homemade Ribs– Absolutely amazing! Possibly one of the best we've had in the Netherlands.
🐟 Fish & Chips – Just okay. The fish didn’t seem very fresh and the portion size was a bit small.
🍔 Crispy Burger– Tasted fine, quite average overall.
🥚 Cappaccio– Nicely prepared, though the egg was a little cold.
💁♂️ The staff were super friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better!
Out of our group of four, two would happily come back again, while the other two are more into exploring new spots.
Overall, a pleasant experience with some standout dishes. Worth...
Read moreAbsolutely loved our dining experience at Café-Restaurant Smit! The starter bread and butter was hands down the best I’ve ever had—fresh, warm, and incredibly flavorful. It set the tone for the rest of the meal. I ordered the Indonesian chicken satay, and it was nothing short of mind-blowing. The chicken was perfectly grilled, juicy, and tender, and the peanut sauce was rich, authentic, and packed with flavor. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was elegant.
The ambiance of the restaurant, located right by the water in the heart of Giethoorn, adds a magical touch to the meal. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the entire experience even more memorable. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or a full meal, this place is a gem you...
