Chiva Coffee — Restaurant in The Hague

Such a lovely place! Make sure to try the scones/sconies. They're like fluffy delicious oatmeal cookies! The store has great atmosphere. Make sure to look around you when you're inside! There's often local art (from his wife?) on display which you can buy as well. Of course the coffee is great too. Many of the beans are from his family (in Colombia). He'll be able to tell you very much information about the beans, even if they're from somewhere else.

The store is small so for (electric) wheelchair users it might be hard to get inside, but the counter is very close to the door so the owner will definitely help you get a great cup of coffee :)

Place is cozy and service is great, but 5 euros for a coffee that was perfectly made but honestly not tasty at all is crazy! Either the machine was not clean, the coffee was burned or the grains were not good. For that price, the coffee needs to be SUPERB. Take care of your products and/or machine cleaning, please! (I still could taste the burned beans in my mouth some time...

Chiva Coffee is eigenlijk niet een aparte koffiebar maar een Store in Store koffiebar die is gevestigd in de Made Concept Store in Den Haag.

Chiva Coffee wordt volledig gerund door Fabian. Hij doet alles zelf voor zijn eigen koffiemerk. Hij kan enthousiast en met zeer veel kennis over zijn bonen en brandingen vertellen. Ik heb hem ook al een keer bezocht in zijn kleine branderij, een gehuurde garagebox in een bedrijven-unit in een weiland langs het spoor in Voorburg.

Zijn koffie smaakt heerlijk. De bonen hiervoor zijn afkomstig van een plantage in Colombia, regio Huila, van zijn familie. Zijn zelf ontworpen logo is bijzonder.

Recent heb ik een heel bijzondere koffie, Loco Lopez Funky Brew, bij hem gekocht, met een zo'n specifieke smaak dat je die met mate moet drinken. "Warm sangria on a tropical day", schrijft hij er zelf over. "Kersenbonbons", associeerde mijn vrouw na een slok. De smak is bijzonder bijzonder.
