Simon de Vogel Traiteur — Restaurant in The Hague

The first time I ordered something here I was pleasantly surprised by their truffle ravioli, the pasta was very flavourful, smooth and creamy. I recommend everyone to try this dish, you won't be disappointed. The other ravioli dishes are really tasty as well. Last week I ordered the lasagna with goat cheese, ricotta and spinach and although it was not great, it was not bad either. There was not a lot of ricotta and goat cheese in the lasagna, but it had bechamel sauce (I think) on top and it was creamy and kinda cheesy, with layers of spinach inbetween. On the bottom there was a bit of tomatosauce, with bits of onion and leek. I also had their breadroll with entrecote and truffle mayonaise, which I thought was disappointing. It is expensive for what you get and it would've been better if it was filled better. Their tiramisu is also not very noteworthy; it was rather bland and boring...

Large selection of deli meat and charcuterie, cheese, ready to go meal, etc. Slightly disappointed with service. We arrived asking for rotisserie chicken (outside on sidewalk) and were told to wait 30 min. We selected chicken legs and other options only to find out within 5 min, after transaction, that the rotisserie chicken was ready …. Disappointing. Food was prepared to go and seal, no offer to warm up. Might try again if they can warm up the pasta (mushroom raviolis would have been...

Recent wat inkopen gedaan bij deze traiteur. Ravioli: heerlijk zoals de Italianen het maken! Bakje kip kerrie: heerlijk van smaak, let wel met stukjes ananas, normaliter niet mijn ding maar overall lekker. Bakje Filet Americain: absoluut top, fijne smaak, wellicht gebruikt mijnheer De Vogel de juiste stukken vlees, geheime sausjes en de goeie wijze van snijden in de molen. Kan wedijveren met de filet van Reas uit Zoetermeer, die is misschien nog nét iets lekkerder. Lasagne (met rundsgehakt): veel geproefd bij traiteurs en deze van mijnheer De Vogel scoort hoog! Visrolletjes in kreeftensaus: ik schrijf "vis"rolletjes omdat ik de soortnaam van de vis even ben vergeten. Zowel de vis als de kreeftensaus waren excellent! Kreeftensoep (uit de vriezer): deze soep viel me wat tegen, ik vond hem wat flauw van smaak en de gebruikte (room?) overheersend. Voor de beste kreeftensoep rijd ik nog altijd naar visboer Van Bladel in het Belgische Hove. GEHAKTBROODJE/BAL: ik schrijf het in hoofdletters omdat dit de lekkerste gehaktbal is die ik ooit heb geproefd, ik zou er 100 km voor omrijden. Met kop en schouders boven alle ballen die ik al heb gegeten, waaronder eigen baksels en die van Jonnie Boer van de Librije.
