inaCorner — Restaurant in Utrecht

So happy we had dinner here again tonight. Authentic Sumatra cuisine. Our starters were great especially the Soto Ayam & Soto sayur. As main dishes we had the ikan(fish) curry, babi goreng, daging blado, bami goreng special and chapcay. It was great again. The fish curry for 1pers was 1 ½ fish filet and the babi goreng and daging blado were both two plates full of nice pork and beef. The prices are very decent €€ especially for the amount quality and taste. The owner is serving the guests himself and even helps in the kitchen if needed. Even the Indonesian Jasmine tea tasted good and I normally don't like jasmine tea. Kitchen staff are native Sumatra Indonesia chefs. So like I said authentic taste from Sumatra. Even the music inside is traditional Indonesia music. It was like being on holiday. Friendly helpful staff. Every plate they served was empty! I just forgot about the name of the indonesian dessert. We come here regularly. Partly for convenience, partly because we like to support the local hospitality industry. The restaurant is rarely full and they deserve better. But then the quality has to be in line with the price. During our last visit the prices had increased again. €27.50 for a main course. That is not necessarily a lot, if the portions were not so meager. Especially the vegetable portions. As regular guests we asked for a bowl of prawn crackers to satisfy our worst hunger. A mini portion of tasteless prawn crackers was charged at €3.75. This restaurant is not a complete disaster, but with such prices we expect better.

Among Indonesian restaurants in Utrecht areas, inaCorner offers a very nice and affordable menu. We heard the foods were authentic and we thought they were quite so. We ordered two separate plates (Bami and rijst) and an appetizer. We did not take the rijst tafel which was told to be a specialty because it looked quite big and a bit pricey for two.
