Pompous menu, a mixture of pretentious, complicated, salt-molested wanna-be French cuisine. Don't get me wrong...The menu was a farce, my colleague from Paris was immensely baffled at the choice of words to describe certain meals. The meat was excellent but the way it was seasoned, prepared and cooked was a sign of delusional blatant degeneration rather than impressive professionalism. I cannot enjoy 3 bird droppings of mushy mousse next to my raw steak. I cannot enjoy raw vegetables in the name of plebeian simplicity masqueraded in a perverse complication. I cannot enjoy fried duck lard sold as duck liver that scorched my insides. And I can certainly not enjoy commercial, cheap-taste, ghastly techno jazz in a restaurant that made me wait 2.5 hours for 3 gum size pieces of steak. The wine was excellent, the location superb, the waiters fine... But by God if I ever decide to again spend half a months rent (I am not a student by the way, but member of a prestigious consultancy firm) for an overpriced dinner of miniature, raw monstrosities, at this place, will someone please point me to the next McDonalds. At least there, the crap is served fast. People...common sense these days....doesn't seem...
Read moreThe setting of this restaurant is beautiful. At first they sat us inside at the window looking out on the park, but soon they came to tell us they made a mistake and that the table was already reserved. We decided to sit outside and had a beautiful view on the park and the fountain. The table inside was never occupied. (We could see from were we were sitting). In the first course the yellow fin tuna was very bland. For a main we thought the portion was a bit small, but also enjoyed it very much. The lamb shoulder was de The dessert was ok but not amazing. I think this is a great place to have drink and some appetizers because of the setting. Food wise and service wise we had a lot better experiences elsewhere for...
Read moreMy partner and I took her parents here for their last meal while visiting the Netherlands. For the most part, we had a great time and enjoyed the lovely atmosphere and (mostly) friendly staff. The woman who greeted us and took our coats was lovely and very inviting. The food was nice and the wines were excellent.
Unfortunately, our waiter essentially ruined the experience in the last 20 minutes when he decided that it was necessary to argue with my wife about what dessert she had ordered. It was quite a surreal experience to hear him say literally three or four times, "You said the red beet." "No, you said the red beet..." After my wife, shocked and embarrassed, finally said, "Ok.... sorry?", he once again had to have the last word and said "You told me the red beet..." Naturally, we had all previously discussed which desserts we would order and heard her correctly say which...
