Ukiyo Koffie — Restaurant in Utrecht

A review is not much for this place at least for me...Ukiyo serves much more than great coffee. It serves a community, it serves culture and it gives everyone a unique experience.

It has been 3 years since the first time i visited the place and I am happy to call the owner a close friend of mine.

The review though is as real as our friendship. Serving the best coffees from all around the world, a selection curated with only the finest coffees, for all the likings.

The cafe (next to Rietveld Schroderhuis) serves all sorts of coffees but if you want an actual treat and a unique experience then visit the bike every Saturday on Janskerkhof bloemenmarkt. The bike is surrounded by flowers and great slow-coffee (pour-overs, filter coffee) or the seasonal specials (Colombian hot chocolate and Cascara Tonic).

5 stars is not enough to rate this unique and special place. Any time we take a long ride on us but we never get disappointed. With Ukiyo Coffee Jonathan created a true gem of specialty coffee and community. While in most cafès coffee is simplified to the level of fast caffeine consumption, this place is the complete opposite. High level of pour-over coffee meets hospitality and carefulness that creates an artisan experience for the ones willed to take the time to enjoy and appreciate coffee to its fullest dimensions.

Whether you enjoy filter coffee, espresso or tea take your time and sit down at this place. You'll find an oasis of tranquility and experience coffee in a way that this careful curated selection deserves. Thanks for all the great coffees so far...

I’ve had a cup of tea from him a while ago and, wow, soo good. He really knows his stuff, helps you select the exact drink you want at that moment.

Today I had a vegan hot chocolate and it’s the best hot chocolate I’ve had in years. Super creamy, exact the right amount of cocoa and perfectly sweet. And: he didn’t add any sugar, just cocoa, plant milk and a tiny amount of spices.
