Da Italo — Restaurant in Wassenaar

My wife, our little daughter (3) and I wanted to go out for dinner on our last vacation evening (sunday, 21st of august) in the Netherlands. As one does nowadays so we looked on Google for an Italian restaurant and looked at the reviews. We came across Da Italo because of the reviews. We made a reservation for the evening on Google which worked out great. When we arrived we were greeted warmly. For dinner we ordered appetizers, pizza, lasagna and spaghetti bolognese. For dessert we followed the recommendation and ordered the house tiramisu. Everything was really very very tasty. The service was excellent throughout. The owner couple was very friendly to our daughter. We felt very comfortable and will come again on our next vacation. Absolutely amazing experience! The service was fantastic – the man who served us was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The pizza? One of the best we’ve ever had – perfectly thin crust, deliciously balanced flavors, just wow!

We were even treated to a complimentary bruschetta from the kitchen that was absolutely delicious. A lovely surprise!

Even though we’re just passing through and it’s about an hour away from where we’re staying, I honestly think we’ll come back just for this pizza. It was that good.

And when I asked about sauce for pizza, he just laughed and said, “Don’t worry, I eat pizza with sauce too!” and brought one over with a smile.

Generous portions of tasty food. Reasonable prices. First came three years ago and met the lovely husband and wife who I believe are the owners. Unfortunately, tonight the service was not good. Asked in advance if bread came with meal, told yes but then charged €3. Explained, yet waitress debated with me before checking and then removing the cost.
