Eetcafé 'De Ouwe Blauwe' — Restaurant in Waterland

First of all, I must admit that the food was amazing. We ordered fillet-steak with mushroom sauce which was simply the best ever.

However, very close to the worst experience ever, was the way the waiters treated us there.

I was visiting amsterdam and the region for a week, and on that day I went on a walk in Marken area. Since it started to rain heavily, once we arrived in the restaurant, I was decently wet and wearing jeans. I entered and asked if we can have a table for two. The receptionist, in the coldest way possible was more than ready to make us leave the restaurant. They offered me a table in the corner, since I didn't have a reservation. But I noticed the numerous empty tables so the "reservation" thing was an excuse, maybe to place us out of sight of their [no offense] posh guests. I kindly asked if we can sit at another table, which [after mumbling and a bit of hassle] they accepted.

We ordered drinks and fast forward to when we get our food, they forgot to bring us cutlery, and since no one was checking if everything is okay after serving the food, my friend had to go to the reception and ask for cutlery. No big deal to be honest, but the waiter didn't even say sorry 😂 The coldest attitude ever and I don't talk about indivduals since it was the same case with all three waiters who served us. I can promise that we were not stinking or making weird noises and we were paying the same amount as the other guests so I believe we deserved equally good hospitality.

I saved the best for last, when we ate our food, my friend had cramps in her belly and very painful so I moved next to her, so that she can lay her head on my leg and rest a bit until the pain goes away. The waiter rushes at us and [again rudest way possible] asking us, "can I ask you to sit?"

I replied, "my friend is in pain and is taking a short rest so we can walk back to the car", and again the waiter was looking at us like we're doing something illegal or what!😂

I asked for the bill, and although obviously they ruined my night, they were more than happy that we left the restaurant. I am wondering if all this would have happened, had we blonde hair...

Absolutely excellent lunch with a view of the water. Also inside seating and seemed like outdoor streetside seating. We had carpaccio open faced sandwich that was giant and delicious. Salmon open faced sandwich also generous portion and delicious. I had fish and chips and it was standard fare and quite a large portion for the price. Bathrooms are clean and easy to access....

We came here to have lunch. Dishes are super expensive, they don’t bring tap water but a bottle that they don’t even open in front of you. From what I know it could perfectly be tap water that they make you pay afterwards. And mostly, we waited a hundred years (30 min) for someone to take our order, honestly it could have been more but we’ll never know because we...
