Restaurant Viviamo — Restaurant in Woerden

Italian restaurants of the non-pizzeria kind often excel in great execution of the Italian classics. Viviamo also stands out in giving them a modern twist. For example, the caprese was served with a powdered pesto. The four course menu (€40) was a feast of classic Italian dishes with an original touch. The wine menu (€35) was also delicious and well worth it's price. The toilets receive as much care as their food: clean, well smelling and with cloth towels; it was a joy to visit them.

Cons: portions could have been just a little bit larger for my taste and the time between each course was a little long. The dishes were low in salt for my taste, but that's healthy and there was delicious black seasalt on the table.

But what made this an easy 5 star recommendation in the end was the great service. The second half of the evening we got a waitress who perfectly felt our mood and kept the gin-tonics coming. With delicious Italian Tonic and Italian gin...

Dineren bij Viviamo is een beetje van een koude douche thuiskomen. Hoewel de bediening erg attent heeft geprobeerd de tekortkomingen in de gerechten te compenseren, wijst alles er op dat de keuken gehaast en onnauwkeurig werkt, en aan smaakpapillen ontbreekt.

De voorgerechten waren oké, maar meer dan 18 euro voor 6 garnalen is wel een beetje steil. De hoofdgerechten: de truffel pasta was smakeloos en droog; geen salie olie of truffel te bekennen. De risotto di mare was te kort gekookt, zanderig en hard, en was ongezouten. De saffraan konden we niet proeven.

De biefstuk werd eerst geserveerd zonder bestek. Toen we na 5 minuten om bestek vroegen, werd er een vork en botermes gegeven. De biefstuk kon niet doorgesneden noch gekauwd worden. Op navragen werd er door de keuken beaamd dat de biefstuk inderdaad niet genoeg gebakken was en gewoonweg te rauw was geserveerd. Er werd netjes een alternatief gerecht aangeboden, maar hoewel bevestigd, kwam de rigatoni pasta zonder burrata en ook zonder extra salsiccio.

De fles montepulciano d’abruzzo had een wrange afdronk. Heel lief kregen we een alternatieve fles aangeboden, dankjewel, dat is op prijs gesteld.

Restaurant zelf is luidruchtig en was moeilijk om elkaar aan een tafel van zes te verstaan. Voor de prijzen die hier gevraagd worden, kan je beter een bezoek aan Viviamo overslaan en thuis...
