Service was calm, friendly, and neither too attentive nor too inattentive. They put up with our indecision about what section to be seated in, which was kind. One of the servers had a very thick Italian accent which I struggled a bit to understand, but that was charming and of course what you'd expect in an Italian restaurant. We enjoyed the whole experience greatly, though my partner wished he'd brought a wide-brimmed hat similar to mine.
The Negroamaro house red had tiny hints of spicy chocolate, which delighted me. The tiny potatoes were perfectly cooked. The appetizers (carpaccio and bruschetta) had absurd amounts of flavor. My only complaint is that there wasn't enough of the delicious sauce to cover more than about 15% of the tenderloin (ossenhaas, as the Dutch call it; sirloin/entrecote was also an option), so when I give this place 5 stars, it's because everything else was that impressive. I've never had a better carpaccio--perfect proportions, and almost everything I like; arugula, pine nuts, the right sort of cheese; they even gave me an extra of sun-dried tomato (be aware that there was an extra charge for that, however.) Though it might be traditional, the pesto was a unique twist for me; I've only had carpaccio with a lemon-olive oil dressing.
The Dame Blanche/Dama Bianca (vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce) had the same issue as the steak--not enough sauce--but the ice cream actually still pleased me. Normally I find vanilla to have too little flavor, but here I didn't mind the smaller amount of chocolate because the vanilla had a taste other than milk.
Definitely sit outside if you visit in the summertime. NL is temperate, but inside are some platform seatings and not much opportunity for a breeze to come through. The terrace is lovely and we stayed nice and cool in the shade of a pavilion.
In general, though nothing is ever perfect, La Terra Italiana is about as close as humans can get. Bellissimo....
Read moreIf you want the best pizza in Zwolle then go here. The pizzas are phenomenal. On Wednesdays try Bennie's where you can also have a good pizza and better atmosphere.
There are a few disadvantages:
they cram the tables to close to each other that there is no room to get into your chair. This is frankly just ridiculous. Every time we go there, its a problem getting in and our of the chairs. They are trying to make the most people fit in there, but this is just stupid. I wanted to come here with two friends, but one is a large man, and I decided to go elsewhere because I didnt want him to be uncomfortable
They have time slots to make sure you eat your pizza and get out of the place so that they can have the next customer in there. This is a policy that's clearly meant to optimize their returns, and it isn't really customer friendly. Besides most people wont stay that long anyway so really its...
Read moreAmazing pizza love the big crust! Only my pizza with figs and Gorgonzola was too sweet because of the balsamico sauce I think it’s too much, I love sweet but it would be better with either figs or the sweet balsamico. But might have been better with pear so you have something chewy, it was all a bit messy and couldn’t recognize the toppings, Gorgonzola was a really good extra but meat wasn’t nessecary. Deserts could be more special, tiramisu could be more like cake this one is just a bit too simple if you eat out you want to try something you can’t easily make at home, other options than icecream for dessert would also make the menu much better!! Still we love the quiality of the ingriedents, vibe and service, just some menu choises could...
