Meadowbank Pizzeria — Restaurant in Ōrākei

Had the tandoori chicken. Great pizza, base is thin and firm but not too hard to cut, theres a lot of topping so I use a knife and fork Fresh ingredients and good balance of flavors and they dont replace topping with more cheese like most places. They do gluten free bases but only the large size but the pizza is good enough quality its almost as good heated up the next day. Theres a small number of tables there and nice enough decor, always open when we need pizza, the gourmet pizzas are around $15 for medium and $24 for large, but with the generous topping I could only eat half a medium at one go so you get two meals out of it. Nice people too. Highly recommended.

Update Aug 2019, have now tried the pastas also, pasta itself was good, but the sauces were amazing, so much flavor and velvety smooth, also didn't get the usual upset stomach from too much cream I've had issues with at other places, I dont know...

The pizza chef is a maestro. He's an artist. Making pizzas is his passion. Every pizza he makes for me has always been a masterpiece. He's a joy to watch. He starts from the dough. He makes the bases in the Italian way, in all its delicateness. But the toppings, he goes for the innovation and generosity of the American way. It feels like such a pity to eat up such a masterpiece. But it's too good to waste.

He's got a very unique vision of what a pizza can be. His interpretation is a must see. He's generous to the very core, but he does his best work when we give him all the time and space he needs, and give him all the respect he richly deserves.
