Decided to have brunch here, but as usual we order our drinks such as coffee before ordering our food. Our waitress refused to serve us any non alcoholic beverages unless ordering food first. Reason being that it is eater and you can order coffee if you don't eat due to the Easter law. This is the first time I've ever heard this "law". I've worked in the hospitality industry for years and well aware that you have to dine (eat a meal) if you wish to have a alcoholic beverage BUT really you have to order food before having a coffee this is ridiculous. When explaining to her we will eat but could we please order our coffee's first, she was rude and told us to follow the law. We decided to leave as there is no reason to be abused. As we where leaving she loudly spoke behind us "go ahead an complain" what was that all about? So here she goes here is her complaint. The sad thing was that the staff behind the bar found this all to be very entertaining. There is no reason to abuse and speak to your customers like...

18/07/25 My daughter, her husband from Perth and Granddaughter from Melbourne returned to MORTONS one of my favourite dining venues with beautiful St Heliers bay views! Never disappointed, with the fantastic service, cocktails, and food dishes. Our waitresses Georgia & Emilie looked after my party making it a wonderful experience! MORTONS Will always be my first choice for my special visitors and have no hesitation to recommend MORTONS St. Heliers to discerning diners who appreciate service...

I came in on Saturday night for dinner with 3 others, and we all left a bit disappointed. 2 out of 4 of the meals were well below average, and therefore, could hardly be eaten, and the other 2 meals were just “alright”. The seafood chowder was bland and “tasted like milk and cream mixed with vegetables and no seasoning”, and the lamb salad was not much better. The waiter asked how everything was upon clearing the dishes (this should’ve been asked much earlier) and his response was incredibly unprofessional, and it was obvious he didn’t know how to respond. The service for the whole night was slow and needed prompting, although the venue did not appear overly busy. Moreton’s used to be a good place to come and eat, but after the poor service and bad meals, unfortunately we...

We have visited this local bar and restaurant a few times and have never been dissatisfied. On our recent visit, we went with a large group for a meal. We were put in a separate room, away from the rest of the bar which was nice because the bar was noisy. The room seemed recently renovated and had a lovely atmosphere. The menu has appeared to have been updated recently. From the food that my table got, I was pleasantly surprised at the presentation and quality of the meals. Everything was very big too. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a bite to eat, a drink, or a sit-down meal. Its location on the waterfront allows you to sit outside and view the ocean if you wish, or have a more private dinner. My main criticism would just come around the noise level inside.

Our server was amazing however our fries were half frozen , my eggs Benedict had no presentation, vegetables or garnish and sauce straight from a tube (pictured .. for $25+ this was insane and tasted of plastic) — as well as this we had to return two coffees as they were made with off milk and were obviously curdled. We instead ordered Coke zeros as replacements to be on the safe side and were still charged for all four beverages. I’ve been coming here for years and felt utterly ripped off. Even more dissapointing when bringing a friend from overseas to show off beautiful st heliers .

Got an opportunity to try their new menu. Lamb Wontons lacked a bit of zing but the lamb filling has been like I've never seen before. Very full wontons. Try it with the hot sauce on table. Romesco with the prawns is to die for. Try finishing not while it's hot though. Lastly the risotto....one of the best I've had. Creamy and full with perfectly done fish. Definitely a hot item on the menu. Shout out to Mercedes for making sure our orders came out ok time and we were looked after during dinner.
