Shahi Indian Inspired — Restaurant in Ōrākei

Start with the awesome food. The curries here are seriously amazing and I am always impressed when I get food from here. The cheesy naan is my favourite addition to the curry. I've never been disappointed with the food!

The restaurant itself could do with a bit of mood music (we went in at lunchtime - perhaps the dinner shift is different?) and the service was so-so; not bad at all just an 'as-you-like-it' vibe. But everyone was friendly so no major complaints.

Wasn't an experience to remember. e.g. Potli Khazana is described as "Pastry filled with cottage cheese, raisins, cashew nuts and mild spices, cooked and served with tamarind sauce." but when it is served that more than 90% of content is mix of boiled-potato and peas which isn't mentioned in the description (and hence it turns out to be more like a samosa than a paneer pakoda!!). Same applies for the other items we ordered....

Really Great Indian dining experience. Interior is good. Paneer butter masala (off menu) was delicious. Cardamom Kufli (Indian ice cream) was truly out of the world... A must try. . Shahi Naan was really tasty as well. I would have given 5 stars but Onion Bhaji felt like it was already cooked and then they refried it (Little bit chewy and oily).
