Never had a problem with my tea, always what asked for , polite staff. Can get busy during lunch / dinner times .
EDIT 2025: From 5 stars down to 3
At first, I thought this place deserved 5 stars, but after several visits, I’ve had enough. Let me explain:
The Great Ice Challenge: I’ve lost count of how many times I asked for No Ice and 1/4 sugar in my drink, only to receive either a cup filled with ice and one with no ice but and right amount of sugar. It’s like they’re running an experiment to see how creative they can get with messing up simple requests. By the way, I measured it at home…. Guess what? ice takes up 60% of the drink’s volume. So yeah, you’re paying for flavored ice cubes.
The Mysterious Rewards Coupons: I gave them 12 coupons with 2-3 drinks stamped on each, but guess what? They don’t honor them unless all the stamps are on one coupon. Nowhere on the card does it say this. It’s like playing a game with rules you only find out when you lose. When I asked about it, the staff just shrugged helplessly. I get it … they’re under pressure from the boss, but seriously the money spend on ice should justify as in any other tea shop on Dominion Road.
The drinks here are good, but the experience? Not so much anymore. If you’re planning to come here, lower your expectations and bring a notebook to keep track of their...

Years ago and during the good old uni days, Hulucat and J’s Tea were the cool places to go for late night drinks and snacks with friends👏. Nowadays, increasing demand for Asian-style tea with tapioca pearls has seen the opening of Gong Cha, Chatime, HITEA, ONEZO, Wu Cha and the like absolutely everywhere‼️The introduction of new flavours and their refreshing versatility has helped the industry to thrive👍. Milk tea’s demographic has also expanded – it’s not just the uni students anymore, you see families with children, business people and tourists...
You can’t go wrong with the classics like the Pearl Milk Tea at Hulucat and jazz it up with chewy pearls or fruit jelly; but I couldn’t resist the feeling that this NZ classic milk tea shop is trying really hard to keep up with the other milk tea chains in an increasing saturated market, but no longer has the power to command the same type of huge following🧐. At the end of the day, we all like trying new & trendy things - the milk foam drinks from Gong Cha, the use of Zealong Tea at HITEA and the tapioca mastery...

I am writing to inform your office that we had a terrible customer service from a staff of your shop on dominion road. We went there and my friend ordered for a original milk tea.with pearls and coffee jelly She was given a tea with lychee. Since my friend never ordered for a tea with lychee, she asked the staff to replace it. When the staff gave her the replacement, it still tasted like lychee and obviously, the staff just removed the lychees from the original tea that was served and served it again. When my friend raised the issue that the tea still tasted like lychee, the staff blatantly said “ i will just refund your money” without being apologetic about it. Then she said that my friend has to wait for another 20 minutes before her replacement could be made! This staff acted very rude with no courtesy showed to us at all. We are not fond of complaining but this staff just pushed our patience further. I hope these things do not...
