Edit: the owner asked me to remove a certain part. While it’s already proved via the courts and the order the speak of does not work that way in NZ I will remove that part. However this also means that the owner did not care about any of the other things they have done. Not even an apology to say they will keep this in mind. This is not to ruin anyones business. This is the bare minimum the business should do which is normal service. This place was one of the best restaurants. Such a shame to see them like this. Review: Their website clearly stated that they close at 10:30. While we were eating they said “you need to leave we are closed” at 9:30. Firstly they took so long to bring out the food when it was not busy - we did not mind but don’t tell a customer to leave after serving food after making them wait with no explanation and closing one hour earlier because they felt like going home. When we tried to pay we asked to split it half. They didn’t have payWave (quite shocking for a central and busy restaurant to not have payWave) so only one of us had our card. He said “you have to pay twice because it’s already processed” instead of charging us once. Again, we did not mind but that’s not true. It was not processed because we did not pay. It’s better to tell the truth and say sorry I’m not trained well enough and I don’t know how to change it instead of rudely saying “no it’s processed you don’t have a choice you have to pay twice” it’s such a shame because their food is not bad. Portion sizes of the curry have decreased by half in the last year. Very disappointing. Hopefully they improve in some way soon, and give proper customer service to their Indian customers as well as they do for others.
In response to your second part: I will await the court documents. Currently there is nothing defamatory about this. Again, there is no ownership from you. I will not be threatened to remove a very accurate review of what has happened (which there is still no acknowledgment which I am very surprised at) I will await any documentation that comes. Thank you, but I would rather keep my...
Read moreNot just a restaurant; it's a journey back in time, offering a villa home experience that sets it apart from the rest. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, and I can't wait to share the highlights.
From the moment you step inside, the ambiance is a delightful blend of nostalgia and contemporary elegance. The decorations transport you to a different era, with interesting lightings that add a unique touch to the dining experience. The lighting, carefully curated to create an atmosphere that's just enough to see, etched the evening into my memory - I absolutely loved it.
The waiting area, adorned with comfy sofas, ensures that even a brief wait is a comfortable and enjoyable experience. It's these thoughtful details that contribute to the overall charm of Indian Lounge.
Now, let's talk about the real heroes—the staff. A special shoutout to one remarkable individual who not only provided impeccable service but went above and beyond. With a group of 12, remembering each dish by heart is no small feat. When it came time to split the bills, this absolute savior made the process smooth and prevented any potential chaos. I'd give a 100000 out of 5 just for that extraordinary effort.
The food, of course, was exceptional. The flavors were rich, and the menu offered a variety that catered to every palate. The combination of outstanding cuisine, a nostalgic ambiance, and a staff member who deserves all the accolades makes Indian Lounge a true gem in Mt Eden.
In conclusion, Indian Lounge Mt Eden is not just a restaurant; it's an experience worth savoring. From the villa home ambiance to the exceptional staff and delicious food, it's a journey that I can't recommend enough. A...
Read moreJust came home from catch up with friends at this place and am still in shock. Been to this place on 2 previous occasions and it was really good both times BUT tonight OMG. There was a private function/ gathering in one half of restaurant while other half was open to publick( we were unfortunate members of publick)” party goers “ were provided with microphone that was on loudest posible setting and after induring speaches for a while( it felt like anyone with tongue had a go at it) it was open micke for anyone ( on the party side) keen to live out their dreams of singing in publick- I am not exaggerating when I say that one lady sounded like cat being skinned alive- follow up acts were equally bad but just different flavours of bad. It was so loud we could not have conversation - even yelling could not overcome the mike setting- I dont get this -in all fairness whole restaurant should have been booked for party and closed to publick or we should have been warned prior to placing order that open mike is happening. To add insult to injury as we started eating lights were dimmed down in the whole restaurant to enhance ambience for party goers so it was like eating in semi darkness- we had to get waiters and ask her to put a light back on to normal setting so we can see what we are eating. If I did not witnessed this I would have not believed it( I have a video to prove it but as there are other people milling around and not sure it would be PC to share)- I usually can see funny side of things but this was to bad to be funny- if considering coming here( as food is good and prices are decent) make sure you check are you getting open mike entertainment as...
