I have been banned from Altar because I wrote the review below They shrugded their shoulders and roll their eyes back and tell me I have to pay for my raw rice risotto - rice and pumpkin both not cooked through! (True). Have stopped going after going almost dally for 3 years and spending well over $4000 a year there. Their passion has gone from food, coffee and service to PROFIT their only care. Despite consistent patronage and that I had always paid owner SHOUTED at me in front of professional colleague and all customers for not paying. Staff agreed I had paid but he kept on yelling and refused to listen. He told me I had to prove with a bank record that I had paid when I came next day. Came next day and no apology – he told me he needed to talk to me on my own for 2 minutes?? Felt like I was back at headmaster’s office!! The $7.95 microwave heated sausage roll had 1 tsp. relish – I asked for more – got 3 level tsp (yes I measured on this occasion) in a bowl had to pay an extra dollar – even though I spend so much and had brought many new...
Read moreAlter was busy, but one mistake followed another. We ordered two flat whites. When they eventually arrived it was followed by another order for two more and two heated date scones. Alter is really hot and stuffy inside. The windows are closed and the only ventilation is through two doors at opposite ends of the cafe. There's no air-conditioning in operation, no over-head fans, no nothing. On a typical summer day like today, it was really uncomfortable. In spite of customers conspicuously going outside to cool off, the staff seem to be completely oblivious or...
Read moreMy friend and I were here on a wet Sunday 9th June morning. Well the service and food at this establishment blew my friend and I away, it was awesome. We received the best service from the time we got there till the time we left. We had what you would say was a Pinot Noir liquid breakfast with eggs benedict as the side dish but I must say it was perfect and not over run with a tangy sauce like at other cafe's around the area. I ordered the tiramsu desert and now that was amazing not over powered with coffee, light and just a hint to tickle your senses. Hands up to the staff as they were so helpful and thoughtful that it felt like I was at a 5 star restaurant not a cafe. Well done Altar staff I will be...
