Blackberry eatery (breakfast lunch dinner) — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

Any place that not only tolerates but embraces my mischievous pooch instantly earns my respect. However, when a spot manages to combine this warm, welcoming atmosphere with top-notch coffee and food.

On this particular visit, I decided to go with one of my all-time favorites, the Eggs Benedict. And let me tell you, this Eggs Benedict at Black Berry Cafe was an absolute delight. They took it up a notch by adding succulent pork belly and a yummy potato rosti to the classic recipe. The marriage of flavors and textures was simply heavenly. The pork belly was cooked to perfection, boasting that irresistible combination of crispy exterior and melt-in-your-mouth tenderness. The potato rosti added a delightful crunch and a subtle earthy note to the dish. The hollandaise sauce was creamy perfection, and the poached eggs were cooked to that ideal, runny-yolk consistency. Great atmosphere at Blackberry, and is the perfect spot to eat, relax and catch up with friends. I come mainly for the fresh blueberry muffins as they are my absolute favorite in all of Papamoa, well baked, and heaps of blueberries!

I used to come every couple of days for the fabulous iced chocolates, but they have sadly lacked as of late and are not as good as they used to be. The iced chocolates used to have cream, chocolate dusting, chocolate sauce and marshmallows....the works....but now just the cream on top, they look and taste a little bit sad for this iced chocolate connesuire.

Breakfast is really well priced and most items on the menu are good. My go-to is always the eggs, bacon, rosti, cheap, filling and yum....today my toast was rather overdone and was quite hard to cut through, but it filled the spot...

Overall Blackberry is a nice place, I will continue to go there, but I would love the iced chocolates to go back to how they used to be, and then I will...

We ordered two eggs bene and one mince meal promptly on arrival. After almost an hour I questioned if the meals would be much longer while explaining we were now going to run late for an appointment. The staff checked our ticket which was the fourth in the queue. She had a quick chat with kitchen staff and explained "you were next in the queue" and "they're plating it up now". When done she put the ticket back in the same spot in the queue then explained it "was a full house". Two thirds of the tables were empty and had been since we arrived and people who arrived after us got their meals before us. We were about to leave after another twenty minute wait when our meals finally turned up. We were giving Blackberry one last try after two bad experiences the year before.
