Thai Thani — Restaurant in Bay of Plenty

The Indian girl who took my phone order has bad communication skills as well as I had to repeat myself over and over and she still was saying my order wrong 🙄 *in response to your reply: to not being specific on the nationality of people??? Her nationality has nothing to do with it!!! Im Maori/Punjabi. Her lack of english skills has in impact on your business and in dealing with customers. The food was terrible both my partner and I had “the runs” afterwards, this caused concerns about hygienic standards. Over the years we use to enjoy going to this restaurant but maybe the chef has changed; just the last few times the food was in our opinion “NOT authentic tasty Thai Food” I have also read this in other peoples reviews!! to say the least the white rice was sticky and clumpy! Not restaurant quality and not worth the money we paid for. We would travel the extra miles to another Thai restaurant cause we definitely won’t be going back to this one! I had a great experience with my first visit so I went with friend another day. However things changed with my second visit. The restaurant was almost full and luckily we got a table. I can see the staff were busy and I waited patiently for them to come to my table and ordered. I was told that my order will be ready in 40 minutes and it was quite fine for us. However, an hour past, nothing coming, not even an entrée.. They came to me and said that my order was coming… Me and my friend kept wait for our ‘coming meal’ and ended up waiting for 2 hours…. I don’t know if they do takeaways as priority cuz 10+ orders had been done during my waiting time.

It will be much better if they could tell the truth of the long queue instead of getting people ordered and end up waiting centuries..

Just think twice before entering the restaurant if it’s nearly full. Don’t know if they got the capability for so...

just had dinner here tonight and it was fantastic! service was friendly, young girl was training but doing a great job, very polite and warm. we got pad thai and "taste of thai thani" and both dishes were huge portions! the pad thai was excellent and the taste of thai was even better! both were large servings and had plenty of meat in them, with fresh veges and had been cooked to perfection. i even have enough left overs for lunch tomorrow. nice! both dishes were around $25 with beef, and for seafood option they would have been a few dollars more. I have lived in the area for 6 years and never tried this place, but decided to try it based on a friend's recommendation and I will definitely be coming back again soon to try the curries!
