We visited Bali Thai on Saturday. Our order was: Nasi Goreng - hot Pad Thai - medium Flat noodles - medium Fried rice - mild When the order arrived, I noticed that my order of pad Thai was hotter than any of the other dishes. It made my taste buds numb and I couldn't stop drinking water. We told the person at the counter, who took it to the chef. The chef argued that we should have ordered mild and sprinkle chillies on the top. By the way, we eat spicy food all the time I our culture and can handle heat but the spice level in pad Thai was Thai super hot.
My husband tried all the dishes starting from mild fried rice then medium flat noodles then hot Nasi goreng then pad Thai and he said its definitely hotter than Nasi goreng. He went again to have a chat with the chef but stood her ground again.
We could hear her voice at our table sitting at the far end of the restaurant.
The vegetables in all dishes were not even sautƩed or caramelised but 80 percent raw only covered in oil.
We have been to this bali Thai before and we have been to Bali Thai Madras st as well so we know how the food should taste and feel.
We feel really awful by the attitude of the chef who did not try to listen out or taste that might have mistakenly put the wrong spice level.
We feel highly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I moved from Auckland to Christchurch and weāve been struggling to look for good South East Asian food but our concerns were laid to rest the moment we had the first bite of Bali Thaiās delicious meal. We finally found the best Nasi goreng in town and weāve been coming back for more. The Nasi goreng is sensational. The taste of a spoonful is packed with flavour and we just kept going. I tried the Tom yum noodle soup and it was delicious. Generous portions and is really value for money. The seafood laksa I tried on another trip did not disappoint. The supreme satay chicken too was epic. Every single time I visit this place, I will try something new and it will always be good. Today I tired the bali chili chicken and WOW. The first piece of chicken brought my tastebuds to Bali and I forgot I was in Christchurch in that moment. It is now my wife and iās favourite restaurant in Christchurch. Ask for kak yuni to make the meals cause her cooking is always on point and the reason we keep coming for more. Everything to eat here takes the cake. Oh the avocado smoothie and mango lassi is the cherry on the cake. If you do not come to this place for a meal, you are missing...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOmg it's so good! I have been in New Zealand for 10 years now. Originally from Singapore, and being Singaporean Malay, I've been miserable with the quality and lack of Southeast Asian cuisine that is halal in Christchurch. I only knew of Bali Thai last year but kept missing it due to me getting opening hours wrong. We finally got it right today and I ordered extra hot Wanton soup and hot thai salad, and my husband (a European Kiwi) got the mild Pad Thai. I am SO HAPPY with the taste and so was Craig. Thank you so much! Husband went to collect the orders and said the owner is really friendly. They're also open late. This is my new favourite place!...
