Disappointed with Rasa Lanka’s “Special Biryani” Offer
I saw a promotion today on the Canta Lankan Community Facebook group—Rasa Lanka was offering a "special biryani" for $22 or two for $40. I decided to give it a try and bought two chicken biryanis.
To be honest, it was a huge letdown. I’d call it "clove biryani"—each box had only four tiny pieces of chicken, and the rice portion was surprisingly small. Only clove taste, nothing else. For comparison, a $23 biryani from Pepper Bridge gives you way more value in both quantity and taste.
I called the restaurant to give feedback, but instead of listening, the owner got aggressive and started shouting at me. He even accused me of calling the restaurant two times and “threatening” staff, which is completely false.
His exact words to me were, "This is my restaurant; this is the food quality , taste, and quantity. If you like it, buy it." That attitude says everything about how little they care about customer satisfaction.
When we gave positive comments about the great-tasting food, the owner was genuinely happy and appreciative. However, when it came to offering suggestions for improvement, he did not take it well and would become upset or even angry with customers.
From what I’ve heard, this is the third management running Rasa Lanka—and honestly, with this kind of food quality and customer service, I don’t see them lasting long.

The owner charged me $22 for a pack of string hoppers and gave me tiny bit of pork curry with 5 small pieces of pork (less than 30gram) and the coconut sambol was about 2 table spoons. There was no dhal curry which was mind blowing cause as a Sri Lankan you know you get dhal or kiri hodi when you get string hoppers. The string hopper were dry definitely looked like it was 4-5 days old. The previous owner of this restaurant sold the same pack for $18 this year and included dhal in it.

Read moreI'm not sure if they just opened, but it seemed like it hadn't been fully set up. There is no heater in the store, so on a day like today, when it is snowing, we opted to wait in the car. Would have been nice to give a wave or something when the food was ready, as the food was kinda cold when we came in to see if it was done. The menus were not great looking either...
