Before I start my review I must say our waiter Gus, was young and not very experience, so therefore he was a new worker and he kept apologizing for the mistakes that was happening through our whole dinner, we felt for Gus because he was trying his best to keep everything together.
Our group of people celebrate every End of Season with a dinner get together. This year Cobb & Co. was our most voted restaurant from 3 other restaurants. We booked for the 3 Course Winter Menu and we booked for 6:30pm.
Our Review:
Food Starters: The hot starters, soup, chips & garlic bread was warm, nothing was near hot as we know chips should be hot and the soup & garlic bread should be near hot NOT Warm.
It took over an hour before our Mains finally arrived after the Starters.
Food Main: Everybody's Mains was okay but again nothing was hot or near hot our food was warm. Those who order burgers had to wait for their hot chips because this other waiter didn't know hot chips was served with the burgers and again the hot chips was warm.
Again we had to wait for our Desserts to arrive after the Mains, if I didn't ask our waiter where is our desserts it would've taken another hour and to top things off there was a problem with the Sorbet Sundae. This took at least 40 mins for our desserts to arrive.
Food Dessert: There was 3 choices Ice Cream Sundae, Sorbet Sundae with berries or Kiwi Pavlova. Well you can't go wrong with Ice Cream Sundae, this was the worse Ice Cream Sundae I had ever had there was chunks of ice in my Sundae and it was full of whip cream. The Sorbet Sundae with berries, 5 of 8 who picked the Sorbet the restaurant ran out of berries. The Pavlova was a mini Meringue shell not a Slice of Pavlova, very unhappy customer's.
Overall the food was okay but that's as far as I will go with that.
Service: Was poor they kept making mistakes with our drink orders and our food and it was no fault of Gus. Other waiters and waitresses were serving us when it was Gus who took our order, and he knew who had what plate.
The atmosphere was fine but it could be better.
What is disappointing with Cobb & Co. this restaurant was well known for it's big steaks and hearty meals and this Winter 3 Course Menu did not have any steaks added in this menu and for us this is a must since the rest of the menu was not up to standard quality food...
Read moreDinner last night 22/08/25.....Could not get the time wanted as they were already booked, so did not mind that. We arrived about 5 mins early for our booking, but was seated on time. Ordered our food within 10mins. The wait staff were very good. Waiting, waiting a waitress came to a table near us. So I asked how long would our food be. She said she would go and ask....When she came back she told us that the table behind us with around 10 people was getting cooked now, once that was done they would start on ours. By the time we got our food it was over an hour from when we ordered. Then they got one of the childrens meals wrong so said they woud go get the right one. That did not arrive until we were all just about fnished ours. So the small child was not happy waiting, while we were all eating. There was one thing that made us happy was that there was a place for the chiidren to go and play or I think they would have got very grumpy with the wait. We felt since they knew how many people had booked that night that they woud have enough staff to cater for them. Plus they say on their page that the wait time is around 15mins. So after spending $177 just thought it was far too big a wait. It is not the first time this has happened, it happened in March this year. But thought that we would give you a second chance as it may have been a one off. But sadly it was not. So unless we see amazing recent reviews we...
Read moreI feel really bad giving such a low review; because if it was only based on the service and presentation of the meals. It would be 5 all round.
Unfortunately, despite the great service, fantastic presentation, and portion size for the roast, both meals came lukewarm to cold which was not too pleasant to eat.
The burger pattie was quite cold in the hamburger, making it less enjoyable than it would have been if hot. The roast pork also came cold, along with the vegetables and gravy and it didn't come with crunchy crackling which is one of the reasons to order it and something I have got at every restaurant I have ordered a roast pork meal from. Any crackling that the pork had was soggy and unpleasant to eat. The only hot part of either meal were the chips. Even the sticky date pudding, which has been served hot everywhere else we have ordered, was served cold. We waited for at least 20 minutes for our meals, so why they were mostly cold when served was a curiosity.
We didn't want to complain as it feels awful to complain about 2 cold meals when the 2 servers we had were really trying to give good service and the presentation was lovely, but today was a miss...
