Lillies — Restaurant in Christchurch

Exquisite! Truly the nicest dinner/food I have eaten in Christchurch in the 4 years we have been here. We went as a group of four and had the 'feed me' menu. I was waiting for the main attraction dish, but they all proceeded to be as equally outstanding as the next. Someone, or a team of people here have some serious food passion and also the expertise in producing unique dishes so flavorsome and obviously well thought through! I have to say two dishes remained in mind as stand out and they were the Thai omelet on crispy rice and also the salad. Yes a salad! I could happily have eaten just a big ol serving of that alone and left just as food happy! We had so much food we could hardly fit in the desert, but so glad we could manage this also (was so good) . The restaurant was warm to my surprise as its a large open warehouse style. However, it has two huge wood fires and we were very comfortable temp wise, The wait staff had very good knowledge of the wine and cider and were attentive and friendly. Wow wow wow wow!!! The food was sublime. Have been meaning to try this place for a while, and I was under the impression it was just pizzas. Boy was I wrong, their menu changes each week and we ordered everything on the menu including two pizzas. Everything was incredible! It was so refreshing to eat food that was thoughtful, seasonal, creative and out of the box. I enjoyed everything we ate, especially the raw moki, the rare beef and mackerel mayo and the Thai style sausage was a taste sensation! 10/10 one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Ōtautahi. Food was great (albeit a little overpriced). Loved the XO rice and that the menu changes. Bring a coat because it’s gets quite cold being a warehouse.

2-stars because we were rushed to leave to make room for other diners: our server tried to take away an unfinished plate, we were rudely asked 2x in short succession by different waiters (possibly the manager) if we were ordering anything else, and in the end escorted to the register to pay under the pretence we could finish up at the bar when there isn’t really a bar (just a standing/waiting area).
