McDonald's Hornby — Restaurant in Christchurch

We’re followed around by this creepy guy in McDonald’s. My friend told the staff/manager that he was following us around and asked if there was security as we felt unsafe that he was following us around. The manager/staff then told us that we could just go sit in a booth and they’d keep an eye on us to make sure he wasn’t following us. We got our food and proceeded to leave. The creepy guy tried to block our path as we were leaving, demanding us to give him our drinks. My friend very loudly said no. He then followed us to our car as we were running. He told us that running wouldn’t help us. My friend told another customer to get security and we were getting into the car and he once again said security wouldn’t help us. He then proceeded to try each car handle of the cars around us. We drove off and he continued to follow our car and chase our car across the street yelling stuff and doing weird hand movements. He then kept trying to open cars that were very clearly not his. The most helpful person in this scary and dangerous situation was a bystander male customer who told the creepy guy off when he was at our car. The staff did absolutely nothing to try and help us when he chased us especially after we told them our safety concerns. We had to call the police since the staff clearly weren’t phased by this harassment we went through. Gone downhill recently. Ordered 2 x $4.5 Snack deals, which consists of 2 x 3 piece nuggets, 2 x small fries, 2 x BBQ sauce. Additionally ordered 1 x L Deluxe Cheeseburger combo. Received the DCB combo, 2 x 3 piecenuggets, but only 1 x small fries, and No sauce at all.

Drove back around, explained what was missing at both windows, and asked for the contents of the bag to be checked against what I ordered and paid for.

Got the bag back, drove out and parked. Open it to see the DCB combo, 4 x small white bags (which i assume to be 2 x fries:2 x nuggets) and 2 x Sweet and sour sauces.

Hop out and go inside the store now, asking to swap the 2 x sweet and sour for the 2 x BBQ sauces I ordered. Manager apologised for my having to come inside to get the correct sauce, i said it's OK, go back to the car.

Now I discover the contents of 3 x of the small white bags are 3 piece nuggets, and I still only have 1 x small fries.

One bite into the DCB and it has 4 x pickles in it. This is very inconsistent with what I receive at other McDonalds locations, as Deluxe CB has no pickles in its recipe. The fries we did receive are also cold and old, and I was the only car in the drive thru both times around.

I just couldn't bring myself to go back into the store after failing to receive what I paid for the first AND second time I got my order from the 2nd drive thru window. Lol I dont feel comfortable coming back to this location in future, it has caused me a waste of...

What can I say, it is an American burger 🍔 joint. They sell Big Mac to McChicken to Fillet O Fish burgers. The taste is consistent with all other Mcdonald's restaurants in New Zealand. However, the staff here are very friendly and helpful.

Free refill of drinks and it is self-service from the drink station.

Carparks are limited and drive thru lane is quite hard to drive around. You have to drive around the building when you first coming in from the street and once you finish ordering, paying and picking up the takeaways, you then need to drive around the building for the second time to get to the street.

There is a small indoor kiddy playground with limited seating.

They accept cash, eftpos and credit card payments for those who want to know (i .e. visitors)

There are self-service ordering machines or you make your order directly with the staff.

This building is highly visible from the two ✌ main roads, and it is operating 24/7.

Would I go back? Maybe, only to satisfy my cravings for burgers but there are other places that sell nicer and tastier than this burger joint.

Would I recommend? No. 🙅 Too much processed food is unhealthy.
